Ok, so I have a question about shipping options/rates.

Long story short.....

Someone got my CC info and purchased a mac/laptop bag from iSkin in Ontario, Canada.

The item shipped out to my house, and since I was getting stuff from Ebay at the time, I opened the box up to check out what the heck it was. Whomever packed the box put the shipping label across the "seam" so it was ripped when opened.

I contacted the company after figuring out that this was fraud/theft, and asked for a return label to send it back to them.

They said "No." and told me that they don't issue return shipping, even for fraud.

The item itself is $70.

I went to the post office to send it back.

$42 to ship that bastard back!!

I kindly said "no thanks" and am now trying to figure out a cheaper way to get it there.

Any suggestions?

Why would someone use your credit card to fraudulently ship goods to your address?

DId you just ruin a surprise B-day present?

Nope...I wish.

We don't even have an ipad, or mac laptop.

Believe me, this is not something that we would order....ever.

I think whomever did it just did it to spend my $$ because they didn't use their own address (they used mine), and they put in random phone numbers and email addresses.

And examples of things that were bought were rather random....

The bag.
Hair coloring for $15
Some computer software

And my kids aren't old (or sophisticated enough) to figure out online ordering on this magnitude.

You'd be surprised at what kids can do these days. Anyway I would first check with the CC company and report your CC info is stolen, and see if they can determine the IP which these items are purchased from.

Go around the company and contact your bank, tell them it was fraud, and try to get the charge reversed. The company that sent you it can just deal with the loss.

So throw it in the garbage then.

You would be surprised.

I had someone try to purchase a new computer with my credit card.
They tried to change the address afterwards with the company, and the company contacted me and the issuing bank because of the suspicious activity.

Just tell them that you are not going to pay for the return shipping.

If they continue to refuse, the item appears to be yours to do with as you please. if you don't want it sell it on E-bay for half-price.

People will sometimes do this and then stake out the address where its being delivered to intercept the package, in the hope nobody finds out till it arrives.

Huh. Makes sense. I feel as if I ought to have known that.

Its the sort of thing that seems painfully obvious once its explained. I had a similar reaction when I had it rationalized out.
