Chaos termies- with a icon or mark that is undivided that has some useful bonus aka. you get to chose which mark of which god to chose per model in the unit. Ltclaws MoS, PF MoN...

Defilers- Abbys fav war machine: some improvement or even a linking mechanic.

Please no more heldrakes... ive never read of the black legion using them once.

Infiltrating or deepstriking army wide.

No cultists- they dont make it into the BL

I had hoped the first supplement to the chaos marines book would have been for the underrepresented groups, like Word Bearers, Iron Warriors, and Alpha Legion.

I suppose being represented by a single SC means CSM codex = Black Legion, right?

Which is what this and the old codex effectively were anyway, Black Legion replaced the mono-God chapters from 3e.

From a rumor I saw perusing through the N&R section, not only does the black legion have heldrakes, they can have another one per FOC.

Not really, Codex Space Renegades is basically about the groups that came after, not the legions so much anymore.

Which is how GW see's them, they are all warbands! No legion equipment except for cult troops! Warbands that have given up any stolen tech! Warbands that even though we fight with 10-100+ models still can't have full cult/legion equipment! Warbands that can't buy equipment or force Dark Mechancius to build warmachines for them, or even new gear that could help them in combat!

For me, if Veterans of the Long War was an upgraded handed out for free for chosen and terminators. Terminators also being troops, or troops if Abbadon is present. Mixing Artifacts from BL and C:CSM. These few subtle changes would have released $30 from my bank account.

Just because it has a SC doesn't mean the focus is on them,, since they would have a grandfather clause for them.

I mean afterall we used to have Doomrider and Cypher, full legion rules, large amounts of buyable mutations, and generally things that would come with being a longtime legionnaire fighting wars for long periods of times.

Now? We just have cults, random mutations (good for renegades who just joined the dark gods) and such. All evidence aside from the SC's (and actual, written word from the writers themselves) view chaos as a mishmash of renegades, aka, just spiky marines with a touch of different things.

Having Abbadon should've:

One free terminator troop to be upgraded (The +1WS and BS)

All cults are able to be taken without a chaos lord.

Able to use Planetkiller's bombardment once or twice

Cheapened the cost of VOTLW. (Abbadon would surround himself with the most elite of the elite of course!)

You have to wonder about the kind of person who would take four heldrakes per FOC in a marine heavy meta.

What I wanted was a supplment that was not about the Black Legion since the baseline codex covers them pretty well. :\
