I think the GW skeleton sprues have a lot of axes as well. Fantasy players can probably help you out though.

Not GW, but some of these might work:
http://store.dp9.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=Axe
Vibro-Axe 1 has a neat 'industrial' look that looks cool to me.
(I work for dp9, etc, etc.)

Sorry, at my real job and got distracted, but: Strongly recommend doing a size-check before you order just to be safe. Those are intended as melee upgrades for Gears which are roughly the size of 28mm minis. They will be big on smaller 28mm minis.
I'll look tonight and see what I have at my house of these and maybe stage something with something recognizably 28mm to demo.

Bore out a small hole in the marauder arm with the axes, add in a small wire, and some snacks and there you go. clip a small plastic square on it, or a little chainsword action onto the axehead/ blade and there you go.
Axes right off the marauders, arm and all would be for the catachans, or you could cut the heads off and stick them on some smaller handles that would fit cadians.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money. |

Guitar string is a good, and cheap, way to do power cables.

Look for models with 'gauntlets' for hands, either leather or metal. Then you can cut it at the end of the gauntlet and join to almost any arm seamlessly. And if it looks like he has a giant ham-fist, it is 'ok' because he is wearing a glove to handle the power axe.
Guitar wire into the hilt of the axe that connects to a batter pack on the model's belt could be a good way to distinguish. You can also get Ork NOB choppas pretty dang easily as no one uses NOBs with choppas and cut the power plant stuff off the choppa pretty easily and attach it to the axe blade or the belt like a portable generator.

While I can't speak for the axes in particular, the chainswords are almost exactly the same size as the old 40k 2nd edition generic ones that came on a sprue with everything else.

just ordered the dp9 axes that Balance recommended. I have catachan guard so their rather beefy to begin with and an over sized weapon may fit just right. i was looking for one without the armored hand attached. Thanks guys ill let you know if they come out ok.

Here's the axes with an old missionary/preacher for scale:
Maybe slightly big depending on the base models (my 40k stuff is ancient by modern standards, so I expect this guy would look short next to plastic Cadians, for example) but it's 40k,k where big weapons are normal.
