I am curious to the people who bought the digital version of SM 5th edition codex, how do you feel with the new SM release?
Did you get your monies worth? Are you glad you got it? A bit upset you didn't get to use it much with a new release of SM so soon?
Just curious if anyone is upset, or they are glad with what they got and looking forward to new SM.

YOu know, I was pondering this the other day. I bought it a few months ago and I think the digital codex is a great idea. The auto-updates are also great.
HOPEFULLY... the new codex itself will be an auto-update. Hey, I can dream can't I?

It won't. Just like you don't get a free codex everytime it is updated.
That said - I did buy the 5th ed digital SM codex - and I am not bothered in the least by purchasing the update. Why would I? It's the equivalent of what I just described above.
In fact I am looking forward to the new release with great anticipation!

It's just got to be a dream inside a dream inside a nightmare based dream that's almsot insane but it's a dream.

Hmm well if it's $40 for the digital codex and $60 for the hardcover then at least it's not as silly as when they were equal in price...

I'm struggling to imagine there are that many people who have bought the iPad Marine Codex, who didn't already have the physical version - it's not been out that long so I doubt that many new players will have picked it up. Ergo, I would think that these people are already comfortable splashing out extra on fancies for something that's sort of redundant.
That said, I know if I'd bought it having not had the book version already, I'd be peeved. It's not like the iPad release has been out long, the new Codex must have been on the agenda by that point - it reminds me of the sneakiness with Daemon Flamers where they were buffed for a couple of months and then suddenly the rules are updated again and lots of people have 30-odd Flamers, only 10 of which *might* get used at a time...

I have a mint hard copy of the 5E C:SM softcover and I have literally never opened it. There was simply never a need, and I learned all the rules and read all the fluff through PDFs and Google rather than actually reading the book.
A terrible waste of money, but one I don't regret, as this entire hobby could potentially be seen the same way. I may or may not buy the new book. I'd like to have it, but until a TO or shop owner requires me to have it on hand, I likely won't be buying it.
