Hey all. I'm hoping to abuse Azrael's 4++ while maintaining a *cheap* yet effective allies force. I intend on converting the drop pods, the cost should be around ~$60 for a box or two of tacticals.

The plan is to march the blob guard up, the CCS twin-links the lascannons which will be conga-lining with the rest of the blob. The drop pods melt the enemy's heavy support and on turn 2 the PCS and veterans help back up the drop pods or take objectives while the assault marines torch objective campers. Manticores and vendettas provide fire support.

I'm tempted to get rid of the commissar for additional power axes / melta bombs but at the same time he's a back up plan in case Azrael gets sniped out. Also, would a drop pod dreadnought be worth taking over the assault squad? It'd probably be loaded out with either a HF/HF or HF/MM

Feedback makes me happy.

Some Tomb World in some galaxy by that one thing in that one place (or Minnesota for nosy people)

i would swap the lascannons for plasmaguns that way your blob isnt snapshotting when they move and you wont lose as much to s6 attacks, also i would swap azrael for a libby with a powerfield generator for the same effect but with div and for cheaper. then you could get a lrbt of just about any variant with the extra points

Thanks for the response.

The power field generator only applies to models, not units, within 3", making it fairly useless for the blob. Orders from the CCS make a bad form of prescience for the lascannons so I'm just not seeing the librarian useful over Azrael.

I've had more bad than good with special weapons in blobs. More often than not they're farther than 12" away from the target and end up being wastes of points... I'll have to playtest plasmaguns with this loadout. The lascannons will only be moving turn 3-4, or at the point in which the blob can charge so I'm not terribly worried about snapfiring.

S6 is a problem to them, yeah.

What are your thoughts on drop pod flamer dreadnoughts? I don't know if the assault squad will cut it for anti-infantry.
