The victim fought against the Japanese, who had no intentions of invading America, or committing genocide to its people... so introducing Nazi's to this is still a bit of a stretch.

That's a bit of a stretch. There was blatant murder and intentional conditions to bring about death. The Japs intentionally drove tanks through columns of POWs.

I have a friend at work whose uncle was on the Bataan death march. He tells me his uncle is mentioned by name in a book about it for saving people from dying.

I just think it's a sad irony and mockery of fate to survive such a horrific event that killed millions only to be brutally murdered by a bunch of lowlife tossers.

All I can hope for is that these losers meet a similar end at the hands of other criminals either in prison or if/when they get out, no doubt they'll stoop back into their life of crime (probably even worse than they were when they went in.) Once they get out and it seems pretty likely that they'll meet a deservedly violent end eventually.

Looks like they caught the second suspect and charged three others with aiding a criminal. The things that pisse me off in a case that is allready disgusting is that the victim was only about 5 feet tall as well as being 88. Add to that the fact that these punks have had previous run ins with the law and people are talking about how this is going to ruin their lives. Seriously, two teenagers beat an old man to death and people are worried about their lives being ruined!!??
This is why I support the death penalty in these kinds of cases. I hope these walking oblong turds are tried as aduts.

So why are we giving them special treatment because they killed a veteran? Would we be less outraged if he hadn't served in WW2?

I'd be just as pissed if the man wasn't a veteran. The jogger murder is another one that pisses me off and is another fine argument for the death penalty.

I thought I read initially that Demetrius Glenn turned himself in voluntarily, rather than being caught by police. That at least indicates the possibility of some kind of remorse, that the intent was never to kill Belton. (Or at least that his wasn't.)

It's not like I'm ever going to get to see any kind of objective truth about what happened, but I'd like to believe that at least one of the kids was in a situation that got out of his control. I think the most likely scenario is that the piece of gak who turned himself in did so out of hope for a lighter sentence. The dude was in on beating a 5 foot tall, 88year old man to death, then tried to say he cheated him in a crack deal. Deapest, darkest dungeon for life, the both of them if found guilty, if not the death penalty.
