Yeah I've had similar problems with them, would never use them again.
Gifts for geeks have been excellent to me, they aim to have your order dispatched within 3 days of the money clearing in their account and I've found their customer service to be impeccable

Gifts for geeks I ordered from them the first time a few weeks back and I must say i`m not impressed so far.
Element games are really good. I have also had great luck with arcane miniatures though some folk have not. The Troll Trader is really good as well.

How did you pay? Paypal or card companies will get your money back for you if you don't receive the refund
Legal action can be taken - even through an online service but I have a feeling you have to be UK based to do it online.

Just call your card company and they will instigate a chargeback. No separate legal action is required.
This is your right, you are covered by UK/European law.
This tends to have a 120day limit (certain that's what mastercard quote anyway) but I wouldn't wait. There are enough queries about this company to cause grave concerns about their viability IMHO. I wouldn't wait.

No need to stay away from discount stores but running 20%-30% discounts isn't really sustainable.
A well established seller with medium discount is better than some fly-by-night merchant.
Look at Wayland, Dark Sphere, Gifts for Geeks or 4TK Gaming as good examples of established discounters.

I've never had any problem with Total Wargamer on about half a dozen orders. Every time I've had confirmation message back within a few hours and delivery has been really quick. They're definitely guilty of poor communication when things do go wrong, but things only seem to go wrong when people order GW stuff so it doesn't bother me.
Having said that, I recommend Troll Trader as my webstore of choice. Can't fault them for anything. The only place I refuse to order from is Arcane. Can't believe that guy is still in business.

+1 to the bolded part.
Placed one order for one model, had the email from PayPal confirming money had been sent, but never one from the site confirming the order.
Waited a week, no sign, so emailed asking for order confirmation, and also outlined my order, requesting it be ordered if the site had indeed glitched.
Waited several more days, received no reply, Googled the company, found they were a little "unreliable" so decided to open a PayPal dispute, not to obtain a refund, but to try and open a line of communication. 48 hours later, refund was issued, with no attempt at resolution. If he had just bloody talked to me, he would have my money and potentially further custom, now he has neither.
Heartily agree with Troll Trader though, unfailingly excellent, and one of the first places I go to for non GW stuff.

My first problem with Arcane was from back when Uncharted Seas was up for pre-order, he had everything on his site and I placed an order. Release date came and went with no sign of the stuff, I got a refund in the end and when I next looked he'd removed all the stock from his store!
The actual reason I refuse to do business though is that a little later I ordered the Cadwallon RPG book and it didn't arrive. After a while I complained I hadn't received it, but I never got any sort of direct response. Instead, a few days later I 'won' the competition they were running to get a free RPG book. I didn't press it further as I got my book but the guy basically screwed over anybody else entering the competition just to fulfull an order.

Total Wargamer seem to be a bust, I've never heard much good about them and my one and only order took four weeks to arrive despite being claimed to be dispatched within two days.
Dark Sphere are great, and most of my orders go through Firestorm Games in Cardiff or Replay Games in Northern Ireland, can't fault any of them!

I can confirm Total Wargamer are to be avoided. I was promised a refund two months ago. I suggest that everyone who has had difficulties with them lodges a complaint with Worcestershire (I think) Trading Standards. I don't care if it's GW making difficulties, if you can't provide the product or process a refund, you shouldn't be in business. As far as I can see, taking money for goods you know well you can't deliver is dishonest. Meanwhile I will be taking other steps to recover my money.

They are an awful company full of liars. Took me a month of pestering them, and in the end I threatened to drive down to the store to take what I'd paid for. Eventually received my Broadside but will stay well clear!
Firestorm games I use now, ordered a Riptide and a fireblade on friday morning, they emailed and said they were waiting for the Riptide delivery and my stuff would be with me Thursday. I said I had a game on Thursday and was hoping to get it before then, they called in a favour and it got here today! Were in constant contact via email, friendly and like I said, bent over backwards to help

I do like the looks of troll trader, but the decision not to stock gw product seems like a business desicion of equal incompitance to throwing wads of £5 into a nearby river.

If you waste more time placating disgruntled customers than you make in sales its a pretty good idea. Of course Dark Sphere's GW embargo lasted all of 2-4 months so I guess if the kids want hard to get crack you stock crack no matter the inconvenience.

Actually, it isn't that uncommon for Independant retailers not to stock GW, and it seems to be becoming more common.
Their trade terms are so restrictive, not to mention the questionable shenanigans with new releases that have happened recently, as well as the limited margin available if you want to try and compete on price with some of the big established discounters simply means that, contrary to being incompetent, it can actually be a very smart decision.
Couple that with the apparent rise of non- GW games, and factor in that Troll Trader are also stockists for some relatively obscure lines in the UK, and you've got a sound retailer with a solid future, IMO.

Ok, best to buy from eBay, as they don't discount as much, but often offer free shipping which means it works out cheaper than buying it from their web store with a discount and paying for shipping on top (not by much, but still..)
They're also offering the AP inks you mentioned in the WG thread up for pre order too.

Discounts + postage ~ RRP + free delivery in all circumstances.
I sometimes buy full RRP from my local GW if I only want one thing, or something cheap (from GW, ha!) as by the time you pay for delivery, the discount is all but wiped off.
I always check both the webstore and eBay shop with TT, as not only do the delivered prices vary, the stock levels do too. Automatically Appended Next Post: Hivefleet Oblivion wrote:I third, or fourth or whatever it is, the recommendation for Dark Sphere.

I doubt that's the reason, at least in its entirety. It would be supremely easy to cut 10% off RRP in store, and out compete the GW. I suspect the reason they don't stock GW is because there is a store close by, but I doubt the reason they don't stock GW is because there is a GW store nearby if you get my meaning.

I won't argue. You could be right. We have asked at Dark Sphere about some of the political issues you're alluding to, they tend to suggest that doesn't really happen - but they are very diplomatic.

I think if you had a GW 3 doors down you would see a steady stream of new gamers going through GWs doors for the various services they offer, then look at the few vets that aren't shopping on line that come through you door and decide it isn't worth using up shelf space to stock GW.
