(I really shouldn't be posting, I know people will hit me for "feeding a troll" but ya know I just have to chime in because I haven't in all these threads so I might as well now)

People play games that aren't competitive or in tournaments.

That's what those units are for. People who honestly don't care if their army is bad, they just want the awesome look of a bunch of horses charging blindly at daemons. They play with other people who have this same outlook.

Not everyone plays the same...be honest here, is this really that hard a topic that it took so many people and threads for you to not even understand? I mean, all those people were pretty honest, open, and fair about it. There really isn't a "secret" to it...

But if you want to build a competitive army, really the best "secret" we can give you is just...play....get experience, learn what beats what, and how to counter certain tactics. THAT is the all holy "secret" you've been looking for. Surprise.

Ooh great, another thread!

There is not ONE right way to build an army.
The right way to build an army is to build an army you have fun with, you can do that in many ways.

You've made too many threads whining about this thing, so now I will report this thread.

Because GW hates you. Every time you buy something GW logs the purchase and changes the rules somehow to make it useless. You will never enjoy this game, and you will probably die alone and unloved.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I think I get the gist of what you are asking.

For the most part, there is no "one way" to build an army list. Most people attempt to build an all-comers list so that they have some kind of balance regardless of who they face. Depending on your build, it may rely on you getting a favorable matchup (example being taking a ton of template weapons and then drawing Tyranid horde armies as an opponent). A build with little to no focus can still win, but it becomes exponentially harder to do so.

Your comment that cool units are bad is somewhat subjective to me. There are units I think are cool and do really well in the right situation. There are also units I don't think are cool that do not perform well or I choose something else I like more that fits the same purpose. Just know your codex and try things out in a pickup game to see what works.

Hope that helps!

Don't Peregrine. Next time he posts, he'll pretend its his mom posting and that he's harmed himself due to Dakka Dakka.

Call Games Workshop and mention the password: SUPER LIST ALPHA.

For an additional $29.99 (per codex) they will reveal the ultimate list for that codex optimized for any eventuality. The only way that list can possibly lose is if someone else has payed for the best list from another codex.

And they're a better player too, of course.

Oh God, this guy again. The chosen one who owns every army and sells each one as and when their new book arrives because it will invalidate the model.

He does not realise the amount of hard work, study and animal sacrifice that is required to enter the 40k inner circle.

Deus Ex Workshop, brothers.
