Does anyone know if the Dystopian Wars bunkers and buildings would look good on the table with DzC? I know the scales are far off but the DW bunkers and buildings are on the large side and might work for smaller buildings and outposts when used with DzC. Bonus points if anyone could find or take a picture of a DW building next to some DzC units

I have just got the dzc starter and built the minis up they are so detailed for their size its unreal!! About to start with assembling the card buildings. I jacked in 40k and decided to get into dzc and so far I'm very impressed haven't battled yet though.

Depends, if you're looking at the plastics from the starter they're about what, £20-30 for 3 dropships, 6 tanks, 6 infantry stands and 3 apcs. Convert that into the very basic "starter" faction sets (same composition in resin)...you're looking at about £80 for the bare minimum to move a few models around for one faction, not including rules. The initial buy in price puts a lot of people off and I think is what's made Spartan as successful as it has been (DZC closest range competitor).

The 2 forces in the box if you bought them separately in resin would be £60 each give or take. The rulebook is £15. Buildings the big box is 20 buildings for 30 quid so half that that's another 15 quid. For a starter box you cant find something better.

If you go for 2 2 player starter sets with swaps from a friend a 1500 point army will cost less than £100 and 2000 point army would cost less than £140 and you will have enough terrain between the pair of you to play on a 6x4 board. Most tournaments are either 1500 or 2000

Thats what we did! We bought two of the sets and will get some more special vehicles for christmas. We managed to make a kodiac from the two spare APCs, so that saves us some more money!

1. Go to FLGS on a 40K game night.
2. Announce to no one in particular "I have over 10,000 points of Space Marines".
3. Sit back and watch as some 30-ish Neckbeard who still lives with his parents not only disputes your claim, but goes on to describe his 30,000 points of Blood Angels and how he has been playing since Rogue Trader days... And yet you will have never seen him either play 40K or that army.
4. From here, you have several options. Continue the conversation, or just end it. Either way, I guarantee you will waste 1+ hour of your life talking to this guy. Have fun!

Could likely find the starter models cheap on ebay too if you needed more "core" stuff like infantry and dropships. Always makes me wonder why hawk dont do more in plastic, they'd encourage a much bigger playerbase.

I think they will eventually but they are taking it one step at a time.

Plastics are extremely expensive investments. Games-Workshop has been heading that direction for ages and has only just now reached a point where they might be able to get away with it. I think that the plastic starter set for hawk is a good sign of things to come, but it may take some patience for the full line to reach its plastic potential.

I have a feeling they'd look really tiny. I've got some Dystopian Wars stuff and a lot of 1/144 Heavy Gear (which is close enough to DZC's 1/150th to fake it) and the scaling of doors, hatches, etc. is visually quite different. the big 'bunkers' for DW are massive complexes probably staffed with hundreds of men. They'd be about right for a bunker for DZC or HG for a squad or two, if they didn't mind squeezing in, and you'd have to deal with most of the doors being doggy-door sized.

Working on someting you'll either love or hate. Hopefully to be revealed by November.
Play the games that make you happy.

Hope I'm not dragging up an old thread here but I picked up one of the 2 player sets the other day and just wanted to know if there is anything I should know about the game or if I should just build everything then head down to my FLGS and look for people interested in learning it with me.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

The only rules that take a bit of reading through a few times are the cqb rules but once you get your head round how they are written then they work really well. Other than that just put it together and get down to the flgs.
