Well first off Hi! McAwesome here new to dakka nice to meet yous and thanks in advance for the help.

I'm brand new to table top modeling and have almost no artistic talent.

I just got the open fire set and put together one of the stugs. To give you an idea of how great of a modeler I am. I superglued my fingers together once and got stuck to the model twice. My wife laughed as I spent all together about an hour searching for dropped pieces. But after three hours it was all assembled and I did some custom work...I carved out the back of the cannon to make it aim up slightly.

But I digress my question is that I wasn't able to install the muzzle brake. It was clogged with plastic and I also cut the front stud off the cannon thinking it was a mold line.

How will this effect the model? I imagine most people won't have a problem and my worry is that without the muzzle brake it represents a different/earlier cannon and will cause confusion or a need to proxy it.

Without the stud on the barrel I couldn't get it on straight...I was thinking of trying to pin it on.

Also this is model as my command hq? Platoon leader tank?

Late versions of the StuH 42 were built without muzzle breaks, but not StuG IIIGs.

So will it be a problem I messed up the muzzle brake and any easy suggestion of how ti fix it. I've never tried pinning anything before.

Might I suggest some plastic cement for the rest of the models?

It may depend upon your gaming group! The FoW group in my area doesn't mind when it comes to vehicle variants if you happen to have the wrong model/a messed up model.

Now, it's different if people are using a Stug as a Tiger for example..

I had troubles with the muzzle brakes at first but it worked out ok.

1. Dont use superglue for plastic..
2. Do use a tray and lean over it if you have little bits.
3. Use tweezers and dryfit components prior to gluing.
4. Look carefully at the instruction sheet of any kit prior to cutting out parts so mistakes are harder to make.
5. If you do make a mistake, don't panic, when panicking you try a quick fix, which often makes things worse.

I am not a pro modeller and have unsteady hands, but with a little pereparation I was albe to assemble difficult kits like the open Fire box ok.

If you think the Stugs are a problem, wait until you build the shermans, and be careful with the Pak 40's they tend to break, cut the pieces off the sprue at the sprue itself away from the pieces and then slice down the bits of sprue. If it breaks anyway, as ther gunshield is wont to do, dont panic about that either. Broken gunshields is a big problem repaorted with the kit, but its fixable by gluing the two halves to the gun carriage as separate pieces.

If its irredeemable glue a small piece of round section plastic sprue the same size and drill a hole in the end.
