Subject: Iron Gamer & Painter, All Night Apocalypse & Hobby on Sept. 14 at GW Bowie

The Games Workshop Bowie Battle Bunker is having an all-night Apocalypse event starting at noon on Saturday, September 14. This event will be a series of three Apocalypse games with breaks for meals, etc. that run all through the day and night into Sunday. There will be an Iron Painter event as well. Of course, with the store open so many hours there's plenty of opportunity in there to casual game or paint alongside the formal events.
Games Workshop Bowie is also planning to have a midnight release for the new Space Marine products. As advance orders go live this coming Friday night probably at around midnight GMT (that's about 7 PM Eastern Time in the US) the release date is likely the following Saturday. The GW Bowie Battle Bunker will be open late that Friday night, September 6, so that Space Marine advance orders may be picked up at midnight. The store is normally open till 10 PM on Fridays, but it will remain open till past midnight for this popular release.

Hm, I may have to try and stop by for a midnight SM release. Only downside is I can't actually preorder anything from the store since I'll be down at Nova all weekend.

My girlfriend and I go there, though we've only barely dipped back into the hobby so far. I'd love to do a lot more though
What's up with the iron painting/gaming bit btw? And 500 pt kill teams = 500 pts from the 40k codecies? Or are models worth more points for them?
(Also for that contest mentioned [on their other sheet?] do they actually give prizes?)

It isn't "fluff" - it's lore. |

Unfortunately, Games Workshop no longer offers prize support of any kind as they did a few years ago. This is a change directed by GW Corporate and the stores are no longer allowed to give away product. The stores do sometimes have trophies, some of them are "homemade".
There's more information on the Iron Gamer/Iron Painter this weekend at this link: https://www.facebook.com/events/535982489789269/
Kill Teams are small forces selected from one Codex. It's basically a skirmish game where models can act on their own. Points costs are from the Codex.

Appreciated, ty
About the prizes, it's just always hard for me to be entirely okay with that, because when I first got into 40k as a kid, my local club always gave prizes in the form of $50. It was always something to strive for, and it made everything else along the way awesome. So I miss that, lol.
Unless...do you know of anyone here that ever start genuine 40k campaigns? Groups of people for it or what not?

Might want to try / take the discussion to the "Find a game" subforum... there's also Dropzone Games in Glen Burnie where a lot of 40k is played.
