i will beat around the bush a bit in this, BUT there is a point

while at Walmart the other night, i happened upon some interesting little toys. nothing more than tiny figurines tucked neatly inside a colored ball of a random color, i couldn't help but to buy a few.

of course, because i absolutely hate superman, my two random DC (comics) characters are superman, and Darkseid.

now bear with me, i will relate this all to Warhammer 40,000

a quick lesson for those who don't know, Darkseid is superman's arch nemesis (one of them anyways)
one of the few beings capable of killing superman (one of 3 by my count) it's ironic i get my least favorite hero, and his nemesis

but here is where i tie this to 40k

i noticed that my Darkseid is the precise same height as the standard chaos, space marine and i now pose these questions to you:

how would you feel about facing a creative proxy such as Darkseid as a chaos lord with (reasonable) upgrades?

also, what non-warhammer hero's and villains would you match with a warhammer army?

What does the model look like?
Is it cool? If yes, then probably.

If you can please post an image--youve piqued my interest now.

this is darkseid, though not the exact model i have

Paint him up and put the effort to it and it moves from just being a proxy into a cool counts as idea. Perhaps give him some extra bits to tie in a little. This way he looks more the part.

ere is the actual one i have, its not the clear one. buton that note, i dont want to mess with darkseid, he has an apeal that i like (probably that he can kill superman).

On a related note, would it be considered "dickish" if a put my old green/tan army men on GW bases and call them IG? The tanks are kinda small though and can't pass as Rhinos. ofc I'd have to be able to visually distinguish which model is which unit and with what upgrades, as usual.

i'm certain at some point darkseid managed to best superman...

well i was thinking of using the characters as warlords or HG's as opposed to vanilla troops. so perhaps green lantern could be your HQ choice?

Most definitely, Apokolips has a very competent and large army. Forget not, however, the justice league.

Regardless, yeah, I am pretty sure darkseid beat superman silly on more than one occasion. Don't get me wrong, Darkseid is awesome. I just like superman.

Oh he looks just fine, but I'd still say give him weapons to match any upgrades. Default stuff like a bolt pistol can be explained away by laser eyes or whatever, I'm not really familiar with comic book stuffs.

As was mentioned earlier - there's no way he'd fly in a tournament. For anything else, check with your opponent first. One thing you will DEFINITELY need to do is base him, and you'll have a much easier time convincing opponents of it if either of the following is true:

1) he has all weapons and wargear modelled, or
2) he's your only proxy/counts-as model, so there's no confusion.

Either way, I know you don't really want to change the model, but... I'd do something about that belt. That's a bona-fide Ultramarines "U" he's got going on there.

i use a dr. doom heroclix model that i re-based and painted as my counts-as abstrubael vect for my dark eldar army and a green goblin one that counts as my baron sathonyx. they always draw a lot of attention and are fun to bring to the table. the vect is probably the cooler of the 2 since i also custom made a scepter for him as well. here he is in his old custom Dais of Destruction : http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/394979-dais%20of%20destruction.html?m=2

i rebuilt him a new dais and its much better. i'll have to get some pictures.

Quite unrelated but he kind of looks like a corporation dreadball figure from manatic...

I'd take a larger version of him [on the correct base] as a DP.
