It's been nearly a year, but the cult is getting some reinforcements! In hope of a forthcoming Tzeentch Daemonkin codex and with the aim of adding some more colour I've rooted through my bitzbox and trawled eBay and found this motley collection of daemons:
I've got a few more horrors and some greater daemons but they are not assembled yet. I'm hoping to have a lot more time for modelling over the next few months and get together a playable force pretty soon. I want to add some screamers soon but they will have to be modern ones as I don't believe there was a rogue trader version.

Looking great so far! Is that an old Epic/Space Marine Lord of Change on the left?
I'm curious about your Greater Daemons, I still have an old Marauder Lord of Change waiting to be painted properly...

@BossSalvage yep still just discs then! I nearly won some metal ones on eBay but they slipped through the net!
@Riffgott that is the old epic lord of change. Here he is nearly stripped of the horrendous, early 90s childhood paint job:
I have two 40k lords of change one of which I think is the marauder one. I'm hoping to have them both assembled by the weekend.

Agreed! The new chaos stuff, whilst very nice and fantastically cast, just can't equal the sheer wierdness of the 80s and early 90s realm of chaos era. If only GW had had the resources to make big kits (ie maulerfiends) in those days - imagine what craziness they could have created.

Finally got my greater daemons based and assembled. They still need a bit more stripping before they are ready to paint.
Grumpy looking Lord of Change:
Action pose Lord of Change:
And a family portrait:
Rules wise, I'd like to use one as fateweaver for obvious reasons. I was thinking of combining one with the epic LOC to represent his two heads (a daemon with a mini-me twin seemed very tzeenchian). Here's what it would look roughly like. I'd probably build a cliff on the base to stand to larger model on and add height to it. What do you think?
Thanks for looking!

Thanks daddyorchips (great name by the way!). The fact the mini-me was in Realm of Chaos makes me very happy. I never owned that book but have 'Ere We Go and loved the random upgrade tables. From what I hear the Chaos ones were even madder and now, with the mass plastic bits available, you could even maybe make some figures to represent them!

Hi all,
Got some work done on the two Lords of Change today. Neither is finished but I'm relatively happy with them at this stage. Here's the first one:
My issue with this guy is his yellow feathers and feet, they don't quite look right. Any tips on how to improve this a bit? I want it to look brighter maintain some texture.
The second guy is based on a very nicely painted LOC I found on google images. The pink of his skin will match my pink horrors.
Not quite sure how I will improve his skull head, especially the eyes.
And just before I go here's a shot of both:

Hi all,
I managed to pick these up on eBay:
They are quite odd figures and I'd never seen most of them before so I think they were released sometime in the late 90s when I took a break from the hobby. After stripping them I could see they had a lot of mould lines and gaps in them, typical of some of the bad lead casting of the time. Here's some close ups:
I really like the crocodile figure. One of them is missing it's tail which, unless anyone has any ideas for, I'm thinking of just filling in with putty. I'm also thinking I'll leave off scyla's tail as I think it's a bit much.
The question is, how do I paint these fairly khornate models to make the look suitably tzeentch???

Your right they're the nineties chaos hounds. Avoid Red and Brass will be a great start to avoid looking khornate. Albino fur maybe?

@llamahead thanks mate. Will definitely avoid the red and bronze colours. Albino fur may look quite nice but some of them are quite reptilian. Perhaps I could have cream skin and blue scales to link to the Lords of Change? Not sure how to do the crocodile one. Green seems very right but wouldn't be cohesive with the rest of the army and unit.

Hi all,
Here's my first attempt at a pink horror. I thought the skin looked a bit dull so I tried to make all the boils look like they were about to burst with magic. I put a blob of jokaero orange on each one and then washed it with casandora yellow. I'm pretty happy with him so far though his claws and teeth are still WIP. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Close up:
I think I need to change those white spots on the eyes, they look all wrong! Thanks for looking!

Not dead yet, but unfortunately my painting time has been filled with painting of the DIY variety.
Following llamahead's advice I painted up a test hound in a albino style. This involved a lot of rotting flesh, washes and finally white with a bit of bright pink in it. Would appreciate feedback on the results:
Also I finished all my pink horrors. I need a few more to finish the unit but will have to wait for some reasonable prices ones to come up on eBay

Hi all,
I've finished the 'definitely not khorne' chaos hounds. Hopefully they look suitably tzeentch enough.
Over the last few days I've done a big scrounge through my old wargames stuff and won a number of auctions on eBay. This has left me with a load of painting to do!
I'm going to use the minotaurs as chaos spawn. I've always loved minotaurs and can't wait to paint these as they'll really stand out from the rest of the army. The other models are old harpies I plan to use as furies and an old Daemon Prince called Azazel. He's a bugger of a model to stick together and makes me long for working with plastic again.
Here are some new pink and blue horrors to finish off the unit:
And finally some old rhinos which are going to need A LOT of stripping. The red one used to be dedicated to khorne and had blades on each side. Unfortunately taking these off put some big holes in the sides

Before I go here's a close up, overexposed pic of my minotaurs. They needed a lot of greenstuff work around the head and neck joints but are lovely figures. I much prefer them to the current gw ones. I used some milliput to build up the bases of the smaller two which looks ok at this stage.

Though it hasn't taken me five whole months to strip these rhinos it certainly feels like it. Whatever that red paint was it has been a bugger to get off. Here's how it looks now:
It's not perfect but may be paintable. The problem is some of the joints:
I'm hoping I can get away with some scratches and bobbliness given its a chaos vehicle. Unless anyone has any tips on how I can get it to look better, I think I've done all I can do.
Here's a picture of both rhinos together. I've started to chaosify the one that stripped better:
The Christmas break was a really productive time for me so hopefully I'll get to post some more shots of the near-finished army in the next few days.
