Hey all! I just started playing Warmachine not too long ago. I've played about 5 games total with my Cryx army, and 4 of which were 15 point games and one was 25. I'm looking to get a solid 25 point all-comers list that I can expand upon when I start playing 35-50 point games. This is what I ran in my 25 point game:

pDeneghra
2 Deathrippers
Slayer
2 x 6 Mechanithralls
2 Necrosurgeons
2 Pistol Wraiths

Total: 25 pts.

Here's what I'm thinking about running in the next 25 point game:

pDeneghra
2 Deathrippers
Slayer
Scarlock Thrall
10 Mechanithralls
2 Necrosurgeons
6 Bane Thralls

Total: 25 pts.

Let me know what you guys think. I'm open to any suggestions. I should also add that I've only played against my one friend who has Four Star Syndicate so my experience is very limited and I'm not sure how either of these lists would work against other armies. Thanks in advance!

when i help a friend of mine who is new at cryx, the death rippers are just mainly blockers and a cheap arc node ( blockers as in to block charge lanes or to run in and stop them from leaving unless they take the free strike, and even then they cant charge ), but we found the defilers so much better in offensive terms, its 1 point more but that spray comes in handy to get around and shooting the caster ( unless its a stupidly high def caster ) and just wiping 1 hp troops out of the game, plus since it is shooting you can use its arc node, if you want something that is better in melee get the ripjaw, it helps with other melee units, and has armor piercing, witch can kill almost every heavy by it self with its attacks if it was loaded with focus

denegra you can never go wrong with her ( she is a bitch to fight ._. )

slayer is a good 6 point jack, but if you have a point or to to spend, depending on what your fighting the most, for more anti heavy grab a reaper, with its drag capability to pull in heavy targets ( keep them 2 inches away since you have reach and they might not ) load this with 3 focus, 1 is to boost to hit the harpoon, the other 2 are for extra attacks, because if you hit with the free melee attack, then you can spend the focus to make additional melee attacks ( auto hit thanks to sustained attack ), the corrupter is good agents light infantry or low def infantry, and is a good warcaster supporter, and should be used to block charge lanes and shoot infantry, and can either burst and kill multiple light infantry with pow 10, heal caster d3, or become an arc node if it kills something, witch is all good but 8 points

if you grab a reaper, you can use its deathchill from the pistol wraiths to make it only move tords to the reaper if that model does not have reach

the scarlock thrall is good because it lets you put out more debuffs for free, just don't let him die. because he will be focused on

if you want for a more tar pit approach, go for the mechanithralls spam, for a more kill everything in your path and leave nothing alive go for banethralls and ua and solo, i would pick the banethralls, but the tarpit is good to

so there are my opinions, you do what you will :3

1 last thing, take a look at nightmare, the stuff in wraith, and the stuff in mercs

I would drop the slayer and banes. Add another max unit of McThralls, 2 Warwitch Sirens, and Goreman. You don't really need a heavy, when Denny's spells can make your infantry hit like a heavy. The sirens are there to fuel your jacks and act as late game infantry clearers. The Skarlock hands out ghost walk to whatever unit needs it. Position the arc nodes to debuff whatever the biggest threats are and choke them to death with McThralls. Don't forget that they can combo strike for a pow 15. Be patient and let the McThralls do all the work. Just always hang one back, so the unit doesn't get wiped.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I like the 2 full squads of Mechanithralls. They were awesome in my other games. Maybe if I drop the slayer I can upgrade the deathrippers to ripjaws for some anti-heavy armor or to hamstring my opponent's biggest, nastiest jack. If I do that, add in your other suggestions, and swap out the bane thralls for mechanithralls, the list would look something like:

pDeneghra
Scarlock Thrall
2 ripjaws
2 x 10 Mechanithralls
2 Necrosurgeons
2 Warwitch Sirens

This is assuming Gorman is 2 points. I'm not 100% sure though. I could also drop the 2 sirens and Gorman for 2 Pistol Wraiths. I've checked out other heavy jacks and I've only run the slayer so far and it's pretty good for only 6 points. I was thinking about running Nightmare or the Seether, especially the Seether since that would allow me to give Denny more focus for more spells or defense buff. Are these viable options or is the list above good?

Shoot, I meant to include the Scarlock Thrall in that list. I'd rather have the free spells at this point level. I edited my last post to include him and dropped out Gorman.

if you can you can swap out the 2 ripjaws for 2 defilers and have spray shinangins to hit multiple guys, as well as the warwitch spraying as well. and this works for p denegra's teir 1 list

but for heavys that you cant debuff you can ripjaw that crap, they can easly kill colossal

Two ripjaws will not kill a collossal. If some one is running a collossal at 25 points, Goreman is your man. Blind it and its an expensive obstruction. Run a siren into its back arc and it is stuck doing nothing. Either way, you will have a huge advantage in numbers. You can just choke it with McThralls if need be. Jam it with three and don't leave it room to trample and you'll have an endless supply of three McThralls charging in every turn.

rip jaws with armor pierce? if you load both of them with focus 6 attacks at /2 armor on colossal, rolling straight damage? you'll take it out unless the dice gods hate you

You need to reread star attacks. To use one, you sac your initial attacks. Since you only get initial attacks once per activation, you'll only get to do it once per turn. That collossal will not let you do it two turns in a row.
