On your planet, burning your men!

So, as I was scrolling through the GW site I came across the Preacher with Chainsword and I got somewhat enchanted by it.

But what is the use of this fella? Can he be attached to a imperial guard army? i don't feel like he belongs between grey knights which he is categorized in.

He's usable in IG and Sisters of Battle armies right now. You could also use him as a Henchman in a GK army.

Preacher of the Emperor

Hanford, CA, AKA The Eye of Terror

thats an old witch hunter model that most people use for Eccliarchy Priests. I use other one on there with the guy with a book on a staff, but the effect is there no matter what, unless you want an eviscerator, then its conversion time

17,000 points (Valhallan)
10,000 points
6,000 points (Order of Our Martyred Lady)

It actually waaaay predates Codex: Witch Hunters. Those were released back in the 90s.

He can be used as Hierophant in an Inquisitorial Henchmen group for Grey Knights, a Ministorum Preacher for Imperial guard, or an Ecclesiarchy Priest for Sisters. For their point cost in the last 2 armies they aren't really worth it, but I can't offer an opinion on its utility for Grey Knights having never played or really looked at its rules. IG and SoB get to reroll failed hits in assault they charge into, but the ability of A T3 IC with I3 to survive an assault round with only a 4+ save is dubious since they have a single wound. Think of it this way, a 3 wound Inquisitor costs less than they do and has better stats and wargear options.

It's a priest, not a witch hunter. You can tell by the fact he's waving a sunburst -(][)- instead of a barred =][=.

could just be an old model that technically has no place anymore, like Ork Goff Rokkers. I bought those 3 dudes because i intend to turn a battlewagon into a stadium on wheels
