There were all these rumors about a Huge new Sppace Marine Walker, described as a Love child of a Contemptor dread and a SM Dread But Huge. Not in the release or leaked pics. was it just a red herring/mis-direction. Bummed not to get a new bigger walker.

I'm ok wiht there being no big walker for SM. It doesn't really fit any of their fluff and chances are it would of looked bad too.

Like the Centurions, what we got instead, don't? Upon seeing the 3d pictures for them, I think I may have preferred a mega-dread. Oh well, not like I absolutely have to use them.

The more prevalent rumors were of something between terminator and dreadnought size, which we did get. The love child rumors were much less prominent.

Maybe it is just me, but I'm kinda' afraid that I won't have my options to combat the recent Monstrous Creature Spree with my humble Space Marines. In my gaming club, everyone jumped into the Tau Master Race bandwagon, and between 3 Riptides and the CD FMC spam my Space Marines will have the option to... huh... bring Devastator Shiturions with grav cannons I suppose? So I can throw 240+ points at 200-300 points MCs?
Without a very own Space Marine MC, I feel vulnerable. But maybe I will ally up with some Tau for the Riptide love... Yay ...

So in other words, "Hey guys! An army I don't play got updated with something really cheesy. Can an army I do play get in on some of that cheese?"
Strangely enough, that sentiment isn't that far off from what this troll said.
I'm getting real tired of all the envy going on as each new release comes. I do not want to see this game turned into "Whoever brings in the biggest plastic statue wins" so may the Omnissiah bless the person or persons at GW who don't want that to be the trend. You want big robots? Go to Forge World, buy and assemble a Warhound or two, and organize some Apocalypse games among your gaming group.
And anyway, look at what else Vanilla Marines got. In particular, new Sternguard kit in plastic which Vanilla Marines needed infinitely more than some lame-ass MC. Take them, load them with Grav Weapons, throw them in Drop Pods. If that's not a hard counter to a Riptide, I don't know what is. As for Daemons, you're getting two AA tanks and already have two effective flyers. Shoot down whoever's carrying the Grimoire and just proceed from that point.
Besides, judging by what the Dreadknight and basically almost every Imperium vehicle looks like already, a super Dreadnought for Vanilla Marines would probably look like something the Adeptus Mechanicus dislodged from the rear end of a servitor. Apparently, they did dislodge something, but it turned out to be the Centurions instead.

What happened was the same thing that happened to the Summer of Flyers and the plastic thunderhawk a couple years back. Someone made up a rumor and people just grabbed it and ran, believing it to the point people were pissed at GW when it didn't happen.

I personally would have been much happier with something that bridged the gap between warhound titans and dreadnoughts...but sadly, nothing in this release has my fancy, I can't even get myself to buy a codex when I have a huge Templar army just sitting around. I am THAT underwhelmed. They really had an opportunity with the centurions. Instead we got three new models for hq units that we already had, a tank with a rhino chassis at 1.5x the cost, and plastic kit updates that we needed, but didn't need more than something actually NEW.
Grav weapons are cool, but they're not cool enough for me to really want to bother with my marines anymore. I'm truly hopeful that the November tyranid release will have some greatness to it.

No. It is more like "Hey guys, I want to win against MC Spam for a change of pace, but my codex will barely give me the feeling that I could win.". Because, y'know, some people prefers the game to be played competitively with min-maxed armies all the time .

You don't play much (if any) against MC spam armies, do you? Throwing 300+ points (Sternguard or the flyers) to kill a single MC is usually the straight path to a complete defeat. And only the Hunter is noteworthy for an AA option against FMC-s with its AP2 and Savant-Lock (but even then, 1 Wound won't bring salvation). The Stalker... Well, it is just a glorified Hydra and 'nuff said.

I'm actually kind of glad that there's no huge new MC for Space Marines. That would just go in the face of pretty much all the fluff since 2nd Ed. Sure we had some pretty funky stuff back in the RT days, but it was almost all gone by the time 3rd rolled out.
Point the second: I don't really mind the new Centurions. Sure they look terrible as-is, but slap some greenstuff on them and Chaos TDA bits, and we'll have some great Obliterators!

Yes, you will be forced to have even matchups. It truely is a cruel and unfair world. Having new guns that wound a T10 2+ on a 2+ with no armor save really isn't enough. I agree it should be much cheaper.
I really hope we don't get anymore riptide/wraith knights. The scale is just getting ridiculous and the MC classification reeks of lazy rule writing.

Of course! Because that Riptide and the other Tau Master Race units can do something else other than counter those other three Riptides. If you bring 4 Devastator Shiturions with grav cannons or 10 Sternguards with combi-gravs in drop pods, then you want to kill Riptides. If you bring a Riptide and some full-plasma Crisis suits as a Farsight ally, then you can kill lots of stuff, like TEQ, MEQ and MCs.

Man, I didn't have a problem if it would be an even matchup ! But thing is, even though that 240+ points (4+ Devastator Shiturions with grav cannons) is my only option to do it, their chance to actually get the job done is meager at best.
I say if GW really started this whole Pacific Rim madness, then they should be consistent with it. Either give everyone good MCs so the big guys can duke it out while the rest of the army fights the actual battle or... well, i don't think that there is an Option B for this...

Nah, not really. Grav weapons have bad range and their platforms are not the most reliable either (either because they are expensive or they can't take them en-masse). They are like glorified plasma weapons that can't kill light infantry and noticeably worse against vehicles.
