I believe there actually was some fluff back in the day that prevented the wolves from even having jump packs because they're supposed to fight with their feet on the ground "as Russ intended."

But... You can already use the assault ram for the wolves. I do all the time. Other than the one time It got blown up by a lucky shot on turn one, careened into another unit, killing all the passengers but one and the entire ground unit of long fangs, it's always been great.

True, and the Storm Eagle too (all 4 Hull Points of it...mmmm), but I would still like to see it actually in the codex.

Also, I wouldn't mind something a little cheaper, but still serving as an assault vehicle. Like a stormraven lite. Remove the DN transporting, drop capacity to 10, and maybe give it JUST a TL-Assault Cannon with the ability to take something else, and have it come in at around 150-160 pts. Little cheaper, but still cool.

Now THIS, this, I can get behind. The ramming part seems pretty good for SW too. They may need to change the rules for it though, that front armor 13, if it gets 3 HP, would make killing it really hard since most anti-air stuff, not including other flyers, is at S7.

In the book Blood of Asaheim, the plucky Space Wolf Grey Hunter Pack (aka our heroes) use a Caestus to plow right into a plague infected ship.

And Russ did fight from a Stormbird. The legion uses Thunderhawks all the time in the newer BL books, too. It's just a wacky refusal to give them Stormravens, which is doubly odd for a chapter obsessed with storms and ravens.

I can totally imagine them using Stormravens and Thunderhawks, because it lets them be delivered directly to the thick of the battle, where they can get stuck in.

But for flyers that are just air support, I doubt it. It's hard to sink your axe into the enemy if you are circling the battlefield above the action.

I bet he SPace wolf fighter is pulled by a sled team of 8 thunder wind wolves, and commanded by one Cantus Clawnis. It dropps 5 bombs that are random each turn, vortex, melta, frag, krak, or coal.

I have read the ragnar books, and i cannot remember any stuff (even in their older codex fluff) that they have something against flyers, probably they have their thralls pilot the flyers so they can have some fun fighting the enemy.

In the Ragnar books, Ragnar himself says that he'd rather be a 'Thunderhawk pilot than a foot soldier.

Honestly I'd rather have Kelly back. 2/3 of DA's builds are unviable, and I'd rather not have to go for another whole edition shoehorned into limited SW builds. In my opinion Kelly is, in general, the most consistently good Codex writer out there with CSM being his only real misstep in years. Anyway, as long as it's not bloody Crudace I'll be happy.

I like to think it was really the Space Wolves who rediscovered/invented the Stormravens, and they were devoted to giving Bjorn rides to break him out of a grumpy mood. ideally by tweaking his sensors to give him the feeling of the wind blowing through his hair.
