Curious if anyone knows any other 40k forums that are popular enough to even bother (ie not like one of those bazillion random I LOVE DOGGIES forums with like 30 members lol).

Reason being i moved to a more rural area than i would like to and having issues finding a group. My hope is i'll find someone thats just not on dakka within my area (southern nebraska, usa)

Best bet would be to post in any 40k forum you can find and see if you get responses. Could be a 40k player in your area on any forum, regardless of size.

I frequent the Tyranid Hive, could try there.

Nebraska, hmmm that's a tough one. Have you found your closest gaming store? maybe a hobby town or something similar.
How close to Omaha? There's the Dragon's Lair, I only remember that because I drove there and got not one but 2 speeding tickets.

But you can see which forum they are using and go there or invite them to come here. there are probably penty of people from Nebraska just iching for some new blood in their game

i will be about 20minutes west of lincoln, so im about an hour or so away from Omaha. I havnt roamed in lincoln yet because (until tomorrow when i move into my apartment) i live 3hours from lincoln right now rofl. I know of a Warmachine group in Kearney but while i like the game, 40k is my pref (and theyre damn near 2hours away from Milford, where i'll be lol). Probably Friday i'll be cruising throughout Lincoln finding all the stores im going to make my regular stopping places, since i'll have a week or two deadzone of NOTHING in my house (dont even have my models right now either, and its driving me nuts i have so many projects i wanna start on but i need my bitz!!)

I cant believe that there arent ANY players in this area, its the most populated area of nebraska (granted not saying much but its still a lot of people). This is a task indeed but i refuse to have my models just get shelved for the next 2 years lol

Also, yeah dont speed in nebraska. State patrols are worse here than california, not joking either. Oddly enough its really only speed they care about ive seen some crazy gak drive down the road and they didnt care lol

There are none.

There is only Dakka.

I originally used to check out librarium online, but their population isn't that big (it has the illusion of lots of members since the ones they do have are very active).

Now I visit Dakka and Warseer as they are the two with the largest/most active populations.

Bell of Lost Souls and Bolter & Chainsword are also fairly decent forums (compared to the random no names ones).

Gossipmeng pretty much summed it up. For the "big ones", there's Dakka, BoLS and B&C. There's also a variety of "Tactica" groups, which seem to be Tumblr based, but I've no idea if those are put together by the same person or are just various groups of players kind of sharing the same format. I've seen a Tactica for the Tau and for an SOB army, but damned if I can remember the specific URLs. "Tau-Tactica" or TauTactica" was one of them, I think.

It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised.

Well thanks to the 20th or so attempt at google (different wordings) i managed to find a store at least. Place called Gauntlet Games about 25min from my apartment. Gonna head over there when i get a chance and see if i can meet people. If not, back to square one lol

The problem of letting movers move your stuff, which the military kinda mandates since its "free" for me lol. Any items with a greater than 28" size (thinking diagonally) and they wont fly it across the ocean. All my stuff is on a boat for another 2+ weeks (also has to drive halfway across the states once it hits land) thanks to my 47" LED TV lol

I could have taken my bitz box in my luggage but i wouldnt be able to take my paints, tools, unassembled models, etc etc without having almost no clothes in there rofl.

That is because most people tend to drive right through Nebraska...so they go after speeders so that way they get the money to fill the state coffers because someone just driving through with somewhere else to be isn't going to be coming back to complain about and fight the ticket usually. I've seen small towns along routes to popular tourist locations that, during the day, drop the speed limit at the town line to 25 and just rake in the dough of people flying through. If you came through at night the speed limit would be the normal 45 instead. Just gouging and counting on the targets just passing through and not being likely to come back and fight it.

Hobby Town, got to love franchises. They are playing today (Saturday) at noon. At least it will get you out of the house.
