Hi everyone!
Although I find the Inquisition very fascinating, I absolutely don't want a Grey-Knights-only army, and so I would like to collect an Inquisitorial Imperial Guard army, with limited GK and Space Marines as allies (I need some "tough guys" after all).
I already have two Kasrkin squads, painted as Inquisitorial Stormtroopers
Spoiler:

(and that's what I want them to be: Supercool Schola Progenium Stormtroopers, not miserable "Warrior Acolytes"), and have purchased some DKoK to be used as troops ad HQ. In my opinion, Krieg infantry is perfect for an Inquisition-themed IG army, if painted properly.
And that's the point: how can I paint an Inquisitorial Krieg Regiment?

I think that, in order to maintain that "Krieg feel", they must be painted with far darker tones than Inquisition Stormtroopers but still have bright details here and there. I'm sure I don't want to paint their coats red, maybe I could paint them black or dark grey as the 5th siege regiment or a darker 143rd
Spoiler:

with some red and white stripes on the shoulder pads (?) and golden details on helmets. What is your opinion? What do you think would be the best paint scheme for Inquisition Death Korps?

Then I would like to paint the Space Marines as an Inquisition-dedicated chapter, composed of marines from all around the Imperium. In this case, I could use more red and a bit brighter tones (not too much brighter, anyway) or stick to dark grey and black with white, red and golden details. I find the Blood Angels Death Company very inspiring

but I haven't decided anything yet. What colours do think an Inquisitorial SM Chapter should be painted?

I need you, Dakkadakkers: please, share your thoughts and ideas... and pics

First off welcome to Dakka.

I would recommend posting pics from your gallery on dakka, a lot of folks are loath to click on links.

As to the marines I would personally go with a death squad look. All black armor with a shoulder pad in the marines original chapter colors.

Good luck and keep posting.

I hadn't thought about the Deathwatch at all, thank you

You could expand your force to a whole Inquisition tree, unfortunately (from my experience) it can get pretty expensive and out of hand with your collection

Grey Knights = Ordo Malleus (Daemonhunters)
they are pretty much only Grey Knights and GK Terminators and some silver/grey vehicles/walkers
Space Marines > Make them Deathwatch = Ordo Xenos
they can incorporate pretty much everything you can find for Space Marines
Sisters of Battle = Ordo Xenos
they are not so popular today and are pretty expensive, all metal models

Imperial Guard can be used as inducted troops as cannon fodder for any of those branches.

My guard paint scheme is a standard cadian green (but any could do), for Death Korps of Krieg a dark/black scheme could do well (heck, they look a lot like pseudo SS how you see it in movies like Iron Sky)

Deathwatch are usually black armour, left shoulder pad is a Deathwatch pad (silver) with silver arm, right shoulder pad should be their chapter pad (what marines usually wear on their left shoulder - so it's just switched). Although I don't like that much colours in one squad (officially a kill-team consists of 5-10 individual marines from various chapters) so I paint/deploy them squad-wise (e.g. 1 squad of Ultramarine Tacticals, 1 squad of Imperial Fist Devastators, 1 assault squad of Raven Guards, ...)
I know this is not 100% fluff-wise, but I think it looks better overall.

/Edit: My first DW marine (Black Templar sword brother, usable either as Tactical or Assault without Jump Pack - the sword counts as simple CCW - the whole squad wields swords instead of Chainswords) - still not finished

Well, thank you guys. I think I will paint all my SM as Deathwatch (maybe with a bit more red and gold) Marines: they are very cool and (I guess) quick to paint, and that's crucial as my brother has a HUGE amount of SM just lying there since World War II and I'd like to save them from total oblivion.
Daisho, your marine is very nice. Do you have other images of your Deathwatch?

However, as I like the IG the most and want it to be the bulk of my army, the real issue is how to paint the DKoK that I am slowly gathering (unfortunately, my brother doesn't have any of them... ).
A pseudo-SS colour scheme would be perfect (black/dark grey with some white and red details), maybe a bit politically incorrect

but definitely cool.
Does any of you have pics of DKoK painted that way, or similar? I've been searching on Google for a while, but haven't found anything yet.
For the Emperor's sake, I want to paint DKoK the best I can, because they deserve it. I must choose the ultimate-super-perfect colour scheme: seeing crappy-painted DKoK makes everybody cry.

I'd take a look at the paint scheme from the old Inquisitorial Storm Troopers that GW used to sell. Sounds about like what you are looking for.

Unfortunately not, I have a lot of assembled miniatures but only painted 3 of them so far which could be considered somehow to-a-degree-finished

Yep, it's pretty easy to paint them well enough for the tabletop. Some people paint the black in different shades etc., but I think that is too much for me (also my paintskills are not that great atm) when I consider I am _already_ extremely slow at painting.

So I just prime them black, drybrush with boltgun metal, paint the details and do some shade/wash. Most time consuming are the details imo, so marines without any special stuff like capes, tabbards, grenades etc are painted very quickly.

Darefsky, do you mean these?

If you intended these, I don't think their colour scheme will suit: a red coat would look definitely too bright on the Krieg infrantry, in my opinion.

Anyway, thanks to your replies, I got a lot of ideas. I'm going to paint some Space Marines asap and, as my very first Krieg Infantry Squad arrived yesterday (Hurray! ), I'll try to figure out a cool colour scheme for them.

If they come out well, I might even post some pics!

this is a failed project for an Inquisitorial guardsman. I think the red coat is too bright to suit DKoK well
