Would it be wrong if I painted my Grey Knights to the Exorcists colors because they are the chapter I want them to be in my grey knights games even though Exorcists wear normal space marine gear?

As long as it's clear which models follow which rules...go for it! Just don't have to similar looking/painted models that follow different rules from different codices as it makes it REALLY confusing. So, long answer short, paint away and have fun!

Yeah and they do work for the Ordo Malleus so they would have access to grey knight demon hunting gear if the mission/inquisitor required it anyway.
