Finish my big mutants and Rak'Gol kitbashes. Not putting huge effort into the kitbashes since they're nothing special, but happy to have some chaos worshipping xenos hanging around my Lost and the Damned.

Got 6 3d printed 3rd Edition Stormies I am painting. Because they are the GOAT.

I feel less guilty choppin and changing them when they can be printed brand new than I would if they were OG white metal boi who has been through multiple IG collections, seen comrades come and go, and probably fought a hundred tabletop battles.

Finally buckled down and spent the day banging out terrain I had in my pile. Sometimes I wonder why I even call doing stuff like this a "Pallet cleanser" like, stuff like that should be easy. Normally it is but for this set of terrain it ended up being a lot more work than I thought.

Anyway, to start

Now this set was pretty straight forward and it was actually easy. The most time consuming part was waiting for my homemade terrain wash to dry. Came out just the way I wanted but I felt it was kind of bland so I threw on some tufts as I have tons and I find myself not using them as much as I should.

Now for the annoying one. I actually though this was going to be easy, but given all the tight nooks and crannies it was hard to get the paint on. Even worse was normal paint method was going to be harder than usual.

So one ruined house for Mordheim/Frostgrave/whatever game I want to use it for. I have the undamaged version of this house and now I have the ruined version! Normally I just drybrush the hell out of it but with all the stone and wood in rubble piles It was harder that I would have wanted. But at least it's done!

Now to paint something easy...maybe Skaven.

My eyes rolled back in my skull after about 20 minutes on those. Definitely still a roadblock. My main idea however I am still high on, so I started cleaning up a unit of Crisis to try the scheme on. 3 hours yesterday, got about halfway done with cleanup, the rest + assembly should be comfortably done by tonight.

Finished my 16th Five Parsecs encounter today, then rolled through the 17th Campaign Turn. Going to do a Salvage mission for the next encounter mostly because I haven't done one in ages and it's certainly something different.

Getting some details done on Plague Marines. Very detail heavy models, but I think that means you don't need to stress too much about the basics - as long as you pick the details out the model is going to look alright.

I was going to get a bunch of TK stuff primed/base-coated this afternoon & get some paint on some skellies.... But the humidities a bit off & rains coming this evening.

So I'll probably start building that last TK Sphinx.

So far so good on the Crisis suits.

Been a while since I did a traditional paintjob like this. Contrast has spoiled me...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Also, I love white primer (especially now that I figured out perfectly how to apply it smoothly), but by the Dark Gods does it rub off easily. Or rather, the primer doesn't rub off, the paint on top of it does.

I handle a model for a split second while painting it and already I see white primer shining through the edges of where I already painted.

I already obsessively varnish my minis in stages because of this but white primer takes it to the next level compared to black and steel primers.

Finished my little group of Berserkers and got my slapchop down on a big group of cultists. Also glued sand to the bases of my Plague Stage 3/Mutants.

Hoping to at least finish the cultists by the end of the month, if not them and the mutants as well. I have a bunch of plague zombies to do after that, but I think it'd be optimistic to think I could get them done this month.

Finished painting the fur of my cavalry unit. Followed a youtube guide that did contrast into normal paint highlights. Didn't work too well as the contrast midtone was lighter than the first highlight so it looks odd in places. Think I'll just try painting normally next time I do cavalry

Scratch built a Multi-Melta for one of my Servitors.

Then I took left over hull parts from when I built Tau Drone Ports/Gun Rigs & made an entire extra hull.
Now to scratch build it a botton.
After that I'm probably Orkifying it into either a G/M-naught, fashioning it some landing gear & rotors to serve as a Chinork, or maybe adding treads to have a Grot Mega-Tank.
Gotta root through the bitz/sprue boxes & see what inspires me....

Well after going ham on some terrain I decided to take it easy with something quick and fun. Made some effort to clear off the last of my metal Skaven.

Three old Skaven Slaves. They were super easy to paint. The longest part was waiting for the wash to dry. Now to figure out what else to paint from my desk....I WILL clear it before the summer.

Speaking of Skaven, I'm currently painting my second Plague Monk unit, and will be chasing it with a unit of plastic Censer Bearers. Intermittently I will be doing some work on my Ultraverse custom action figures that I've been making out of Marvel Legends, specifically the head for Atom Bob and the cape and hopefully getting the materials for the belt and loin sash for Mantra.

Banged out 18 chaos cultists since yesterday. They're made from Frostgrave Cultists and Stargrave Scavengers mixed together, and they were really easy to paint quickly because of the simplicity of those models. But they'll fit nicely with my Dark Vengeance cultists to bulk out the numbers.

Next up is some cultist Stubber teams, leaders, and psykers, also from North Star's kits.

Finally got around to building my Nekrosor.
Very nice kit assembly wise. I really like his rubble base. I might need to see if I can source another for use in other projects. Maybe someone at the shop will split this kit with me. They get the Necron, I get the scenic base....

Also got 1! Bushido Goblin completely painted up.
Funny thing is? Of the 9 goblins I have for this game? My least favorite model amongst them is the one I finished 1st.

Aww man, black and white line art on that paper quality is pure nostalgia.

I got my next 18 Cultists painted. Quick and simple paint jobs again, but I'm happy with how they look in a big group.

Also got my Plague Stage 3's all primed. I'm much more looking forward to painting them, I think they really did a good job with the plastics for that faction. If not used in Firefight, I'll be using them as mutants in Grimdark Future for my Lost and the Damned army.
