Gonna be at Firestorm with three friends, if all goes well, next week. So far it's looking like we'll only be able to take 500-1000 points each.

I'm getting way too excited about watching Geek And Sundry playing Star Wars Armada in 90 minutes.

http://www.twitch.tv/geekandsundry

I might be assembling a couple of new Dropzone Commander models while watching it, but my GW 'thin' superglue has gone kinda icky. I don't think I should use it much anymore. - It doesn't seem to last too long.

I think Puppetswar do some. Can't check right now, but I'm pretty sure I've seen some Anzac style heads from them.

Got my second Ra's Al Ghul painted, but Talia continues to be something of a nightmare mini, she's been stripped twice now as I just can't get it right. Hopefully tomorrow I can get some satisfactory results...

Got a chance to play Hail of Fire last night. The rules worked well, and I was glad to get to use my Flames of War minis again.

Today I'll hopefully be spray-varnishing some MDF terrain in preparation for actually spray painting them.

Got my first Batman game today. A simple 230-ish points affair pitting the Dynamic Duo against Ra's and a trio of League Ninjas, and just to get a feel for the rules, we set 'kill/KO half the enemy team' as the condition for victory.

I took command of the League, and like any self-respecting Bat-villain, went for the age old tactic of 'beat up Robin'... Yeah, that didn't work out so good. I took my first casualty as the ninja I had taken a shuriken potshot at Bats with got pummelled into unconsciousness in a single round for his troubles, and the second came only a turn later when a second ninja climbed to the highest point on the board to face the Boy Wonder, landed a single strike before being whacked in the face with a Bo staff and sent falling to his very-nearly-death!

The only consolation prize is that Robin will be getting a few stern words from his mentor back at the Batcave about how dropping people, evennbad ones, 30-odd feet onto concrete is not very nice!

For my first game we went for Nyssa, Talia and a ninja, against Arkham Origins Batman, policewoman and Taser dude.

Have fun?

Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

Yeah, it's great fun (even if we messed up a lot of rules). Next time should be even better, now we've got the rules down and can think more about actually playing a mission.

Mission or no, I was way too careful with Ra's. When you've got one of the few guys that can fight a brawl with Bats and come out on top, he's no good standing at the back!

A project I want to try doing is having tailored special rules sheets for all my crews. That's the thing that took us the longest, looking up what all the abilities did.

Have you seen the plain text version of rulebook? Makes searching a lot easier if you don't have the physical book to flick through.

Bat-builder is also handy if you have WiFi, you can just click a rule to have it come up.

That game sounds interesting but the cost per model is ridiculous now that I've seen how close they are in scale to Infinity models. I mean 10-12 bucks per standard Infinity infantry is pretty silly, but worth it usually... but those batman dudes are like 20 bucks and just a hair larger, and I wouldn't put the sculpt quality as any better (though I haven't taken *that* good of a look).

I realize that you only need a few to play but the cost really puts me off of that one. That and so many games so little time.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your experiences with it, I think that's one game I'll be getting vicariously

Today I'm gonna see about finishing the cleanup on a model or two and possibly some light paint work.

Second game down, and a resounding victory for the League. Batman and the GCPD were sent into a blood-soaked rout, leaving behind a slain Commissioner Gordon. League Agent Yang was taken in for questioning, but he will die before he talks!

Final score was 19-9 to the League, and an overall smoother game than before. As expected, the less we looked up rules the more we were able to think tactics, which really showed off the strength of the game. Fast, fun, I can see this becoming a favourite!

Had a glue bottle "accident" last night (the glue dried inside the metal tube/nozzle... then got punched into the bottle when I tried to fix things)

So... went to a model shop to pick up the glue that I use. Ended up walking out with a classic car model as well.

Then headed over to the LGW, and picked up bases so that I can rebase one of the units I have for AoS.. Now, Im continuing to work on assembling the AoS starter.

I'm familiar with Bat Builder, what we didn't know at the night though, was you could click on the special rules in bat-builder to get the popups of the rules text.

I would say that the infinity miniatures sculpting is technically better (as in, parts fit together much easier), however the scale really is very different. Batman is 35mm, while Infinity is 28mm. This means a Batman mini would tend to be about a head taller than an infinity one.

The price per mini is kinda expensive, yeah. But I think Infinity tends to require more purchases than Batman. - For example, my Two Face crew is made up of Two Face and Gangmembers box set, a blister of 2 more gangmembers and Arkham Origins Deathstroke.

You can get an equivalent force made up of just the Arkham Knight Batman and Robin, plus a couple of policemen I think. - Might need to add in Catwoman too, though.

So, overall, you're talking about £45-ish for a gang, I think. - Provided you don't go all horde-ey.

Yeah it sounds like much like games such as Infinity and Bushido the permodel cost is quite high but the per force cost is quite low.

I get that you don't really need a lot of them, but it feels like they're charging more to offset that. I've seen some scale shots and they just aren't that much bigger/fancier. I mean not trying to be a downer just talking myself out of it. They do look neat and from what I've heard it's a fun game. I guess it helps when you take a wider look at the range and realize that they aren't *all* 20 bucks a pop and the 4-packs are actually closer to 10 bucks a head. So maybe I retract my former statements, a bit. Also Killer Frost, yowza.

What do you need in terms of terrain, terrain seems important to batman thematically.

Dipped some stuff, need to paint some more stuff though.

There is not this idea.

Got some of the reaper kobolds on account of the price, but they're really, really bent out of shape. Got to try to figure out how to fix that.
