I'm going to play a game against a friend of mine's Sisters of Battle, and he's going on and on about St. Celestine "The Best HQ in the Game" he claims.
What's some general stuff to look out for? I haven't decided whether I'm going to play my Chaos Space Marines or my Tau.

St. Celestine can return to play on a 4+ every turn she is dead, removed, jaws of the world wolfed, instagibbed, you name it. When she goes immortal, she comes back with D3 wounds, so some days she drops down again easier. She also has a nice armor, and can get a 2+ invul up if she wants to go that way. In CC she is mildly dangerous, but not all that dangerous. Very cheap for what she does, and a hard warlord to slay. That said, she is T3, so easy enough to wound and not all that dangerous in the grand scheme of things. She is also jump infantary. If your up against sisters there are more dangerous things, and the HQ Uriah Jacobus(who will probably also be on the board) is more of a problem. St. Celestine is certainly the best troll HQ in the game, but nothing that should worry you all that much. Also, all sisters have a minimum of a 6+ invul save and almost all wear power armor.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

Sisters are usually a short range firepower army, much like chaos. There main killing power comes from 12 inches away with there only long range threat being exorcists and retributor with 4 heavy bolters. As always against a MEQ army a heldrake is ALWAYS worth taking, they take out a unit a turn. I am guessing he is running Celestein with a sephrim squad, this can deepstrike and pile enough wounds to scare even aMEQ squad will be scared of. My tip for handling Celestein is to keep her busy on your terms, she isn't a great beat stick but is great at hunting troops. Don't let her, feed zombies or spawns or something g
to keep her busy. Obliterators are as good as ever and you will need them to get at the exorcists. Try and de-mech them so they have to walk to you. Then treat them as any de-meched MEQ squad,, Heldrake bait..

I've had luck with S6 spam, anything rending or ap2-3. Stay away from flamers, and use cover due to exorcists.

Go second. This is a great defense against St. Celestine. As a Sisters player I can tell you that I don't usually go first, not voluntarily. I can res Celestine in the last round if I dont go first. You can steal that ability from me.

I think the only thing that will actually take her out of the game for the rest of the game is Zoggwart's curse turning her into a squig because it doesn't kill her or remove her from play.
Focus on stuff you can kill especially if she's a high threat target, unless she's in a squad of seraphim with double hand flamers. That squad is a squishy high threat target.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

I know back in the day she could get the 2++ but now it is only the 4++.
I have faced her so many freaking times because of here uncanny ability to get back up. As mention it is to your advantage to go second more for the end game kill of her. She usually will run with a squad of Seraphim for that extra boost and they are also nothing to sneeze at. The Uriah Bomb isn't as effective now that you can't charge from a stationary vehicle. If it the stock 1850 pts then stand by to receive opening shots of two Exorcist that can rack some good damage to your vehicles and troops. If you can stop those, a simple weapon destroyed, then you start to render their army back a short range shooting army.

If she's by herself, tarpit her. She doesn't have Hit & Run unless she's with Seraphim , so if you have a throwaway unit, preferably one that is fearless (Cultists w/ CSM Lord), assault her with it. She can only kill so many models a turn and Khârn she isn't.
If she's with Seraphim, it really depends on how he deploys. If they DS, enjoy the turns that they aren't on the table. They will come down and most assuredly Flamer a unit to death. 40+ wounds is not unheard of from such a unit. Just space out as best you can and use bubble-wrapping as you can. If she starts on the table, with the Seraphim, she will most likely be in front to soak up small arms fire and to LOS the AP 2+, STR 6+ shots on to a random Seraphim. Depending on where on the field they are, you need to practice good target priority. I'd be more worried about any scouting Dominions or the Exorcists or Retributors. Especially if you have a unit or two you can try to tarpit her with. The one thing you don't want to really do is waste your best shots on her. You'll be doing exactly what the SoB player wants you to do by focusing on St. Celestine and ignoring his other threats/scoring units. One last thing, the turn she gets back up from being dead, she can act entirely as normal, i.e. move/shoot/assault, so keep that in mind. Good luck and please post up a batrep when done!

Thank you guys for the advice, I'd do my best to use it well.
I think she may present an excellent opportunity as a test for the Murder Sword and could give multiple boon rolls-so long as the Lord doesn't go Daemon Prince or Spawn it could be very interesting.
The biggest hurtle to us playing is getting a time figured out. I work 3rd shift and he works 1st shift and he works in a factory so he works 6 days a week most of the time. We're shooting for second week of October while I'm on vacation-a group of us are going to try and play a couple of games together.

Oh yeah in the Witch Hunters codex there was an act of faith to get a invul equal to your armour -you can't get that anymore. So she'll only ever be 2+/4++.
To be honest she IS the best HQ in the game mostly because she's so cheap, is difficult to keep down, and will always wound on a 4+ unless less would be required. So she's great against stuff like Wraithknight or PA deamon princes. For all her usefulness she's not that worrying as T3 means she's doubled out easily and the current meta of Ap2 weapons negate her save.
She will keep irritating you throughout the game and will chew through your troops given the chance. One word of caution, don't under-estimate SoB they can put out alot of hurt and their armies synergies well.

best way to put her down? Don't kill her, try to keep her occupied. Best way to tie her up is get her into combat with a maulerfiend, forgefiend, or defiler. Being fearless she cant run. being armor 12(walker rule you attack front Armour, not rear) she can only hurt it with krak grenade on a 6, and only gets one attack with that a turn. happened to me one game. she deepstruck and killed 9 cultist, didnt think about the dreadnaught, found out the hard way on how that situation would work out. tied her up for 4 turns(end game). I was hoping she would die so i could revive her next turn. she made every invuln save that game.
