Don't know if anyone picked this up, but it is a really excellent Apoc supplement for Necrons and Space Marines. There are a TON of new formations for both armies (12 for SM, and 9 for Necrons), and the Space Marine ones use a lot of the new units.

Overall, if you play Apoc with either army, it is worth a pickup for sure.

it is pretty cool, I like a lot of it...but...the human/space marine bias in it is pretty terrible and over the top - but of course, SM are the new codex and of course it was written by humans...so what do you expect.

On bigger issue I found was a disparity in stats between it and the new forgeworld book for the necron pylon. I get the whole internal politics at gw of "they do our thing and we do ours" but having mis matching stats just does not fly ....now players are going to say "so which stats are you using for that thing...".

Overall it looks cool, the artwork is good, and the new stuff on playing games in the setting are cool...the fluff is silly over the top (really, you can't hype something as a god, then defeat it two sentences later) but hey, it always is.

Yeah, the Fluff was pretty awful.

I do like a lot of the Necron Formations though.

I have to agree, I liked both the marine and necron formations.

I found the necron ones to be much more useful than the ones in the main apoc book (9 monoliths? 150 warriors as one unit? what?).

Most of them seem generic enough that I don't think any players would care if you used any of them in any other game.

Agreed! I really like the Triarch ones, and the Flayed ones.

I don't know anyone that would have an objection to using these in a regular Apoc games. Especially with the main formations like the Baleful Necropolis being so bad.

In this new book do they have the Necron characters that were in the Fall of Damnos novel?

They "Do" but they aren't special, except they do make a formation, with some special rules.

Damn, I was looking forward to the fluff in particular. I wouldn't have thought Phil Kelly would end up being so ridiculous/matt wardian!
