IN the last codex, and in 5th, relic blade/storm shield was THE combo. Is it still viable any more? I feel like I might as well replace the halberd on my nicely converted AA/SS model to a fist or hammer for that 2x strength.

To be honest, relic blade/storm shield was never the combo-- a lightning claw was almost always much more efficient.

I think the heyday of the relic/SS combo was the old codex, under 5th ed rules. Once 6th dropped, the new thing to run was LC/PF. Time will tell what the new hotness it.

Even in 5th edition, the relic blade was very inefficient. With a storm shield, the relic blade was marginally better than a single lightning claw for 2x the cost. Without a storm shield, two lightning claws were generally better.

The relic blade is a compromise weapon. It's not the best at anything, but kinda OK at a lot of things.

Very much in tune with C:SM
