So I'm up to episode 16, I know I'm a bit behind, but can somebody answer me this. With no electricity, what is containing all those nuclear reactors? In fact how is any of the "deadly" stuff being contained? I know it's a nerdy thing, but come on guys, what gives? You can also throw in The Walking Dead as well to this question

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Revolution is a series about the Earth suddenly losing all electricity. Walking Dead is a series about zombies.

He's asking how all these dangerous facilities that require power and constant monitoring aren't failing outright with either no electricity, no one monitoring them, or both.

The standard answer is 'stop asking questions'. They're TV series, not documentaries.

Don't know about Revolution.

In Walking Dead, there's nothing saying this stuff isn't breaking down. That would fit the "the world is in a giant salad spinner of feth" theme that is Walking Dead.

Well I knew what walking dead was, but never heard of Revolution.

Now I'm not to big into nuclear power plants, but I've got to imagine they have a fail safe in the event of a catastrophic power failure.

That would just make sense to me.

Also queue season 1 of Walking Dead where the CDC self-destructed as a contingency plan because its power reserves were depleted and all the containment was about to be shut down.

But the CDC building was not a nuclear reactor. Reactors require a constant overwatch to ensure that notthing goes wrong, as if it does the failsafes (emergency coolant flushing, etc) will only last a matter of time-about an hour to a few days depending upon the severity-before the reactor goes critical.

Free from GW's tyranny and the hobby is looking better for it

The current generation reactors' default is actually shut down. It requires effort to keep them going. If the power etc. cuts off their natural state is shut down.

Of course a nuke reactor might be a good place to restart civilization.
