Ok, this is probably a really noob question, but how exactly does majority toughness work with ranged attacks? I.e. If you have a swarmlord, tyrant guard, and tyranid prime in a unit, the swarm gets +2T from Iron Arm, does that mean all ranged attacks are counted against T8 since there is no majority? If so, does that mean Swarm would have to make the saves, even if he isn't the closest model?

If there is no majority it goes off of the highest.

And any model may take the saves? Automatically Appended Next Post: Or do the saves have to be made by the model with highest toughness?

Whichever model is the closest to the firing unit takes the save unless you attempt to use "Look Out Sir!"

The closest model always takes the saves, unless the Look Out Sir rules are invoked (For characters only).

The saves are made by the closest model - even if its toughness is vastly different from the toughness in use.
EDIT: This is what happens when I leave a window open. Ninjas everywhere!

Saves are closest model.
Majority toughness comes into play if you have multiple of any toughness, no matter how crappy it is. Long as you only have a single of each toughness, use the highest. Same goes if you somehow had 3 toughness values, and you still had a conflict between the highest.
Its something you really need to watch for. I saw a guy put a buffmander with 2 shield drones with a riptide - sweet, T4 riptide! lol
