I don't have my book yet, all sold out around here, but, are Crusader Squads part of the Templars Chapter Traits, or are they now rolled into the main Codex army list? Everyone keeps saying Templars are now just vanilla marines etc, but if they are the only ones to have access to the Crusader squad then no, they aren't just vanilla.

Thanks.

Only BT can take crusader squads. I don't see what all the gripe is about, BT got access to a lot more toys (except psykers in main detachment )

Well, back in the day, they always hit on 3+ in hth, then it moved to reroll to hits, then it moved to +2 attacks on the charge...

In essence they went from one of the best chapters in HTH to becoming a vanilla chapter.

Though technically I can make the almost exact same army as my current Templars one under the Blood Angels rules, substituing furious charge for the 3+ to hit.

BT got infinitely better than their last codex. People were hoping they'd have access to certain things that, even if they got a separate codex, they wouldn't get.

This isn't 3rd edition anymore people.

And ofc given BT were not a founding legion people should count themselves lucky to have gotten a codex ever and just as lucky they got chapter tactics even GW state BT are unusual in that sense

While they technically are 2nd founding, they sort of already had existed within the IF legion since Sigismund already wore the color scheme. Beyond that, they are an almost legion sized chapter which makes them more like the original legions than any other chapter other than the SWs.

That's not the point. They were given rules and fluff stating they were a HTH chapter. There is a need for the rules to augment the fluff. For example, Blood Angels get mad and charge to beat up the enemy, hence why they have Furious Charge.

Templars are supposed to also be angry, but they talk about the skill they have with the sword and other hth weapons. Hence why they used to have 3+ to hit/Preferred enemy.

The current rules do not support the Templars fluff. That is why people are mad.
