For those who havent seen it, take a look. It looks pretty fething awesome.

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/News/Games_Day_Preview_One.html

Not sure about the fact that it doesnt have a 'head' as such, so its sensors/cameras would be front facing, and stuck that way. Maybe it has side cameras/sensors too. Anyway, freaking cool.

I represent the Surrey Spartans gaming group. Check us out and feel free to come along for a game! https://www.facebook.com/groups/425689674233804/

I actually like the look of that. I certainly want one for my Tau force.

Yeah, I definitely prefer the riptide. The guns are pretty cool, but it seems a little unbalanced with two of the massive things. I don't really like its head that much tbh either.

Unbalanced? I don't collect tau, but I think this has a lot more balance than the short shield arm/big gun arm the riptide has going for it now. I have a feeling that you could just keep the regular riptide head if you really don't like the XV107's. I kind of like the riptide-meets-stealthsuit look.

Personally wouldn't use the head. (never had a problem with the original tiny head)

The gun looks all over the place. (too exposed)

just my opinion though. Hope the rules are cool.

If the thing had counterweights on its arms i would have said it is a perfect design. Certainly its MUCH better than the bulky riptide. Definitely the best tau design GW/FW has ever done. Its a hybrid between tau 40k design and mechwarriors lithe forms. It can run, which the riptide or crysis suits cant, and is centrally weighted enough to twist without off-balancing movement unless the arms were extended. Faceplate is plain, but that serves to draw focus away from the torso and onto the shoulders and guns, which is actually good for the longevity of a suit.

?? Everything below the chest IS the Riptide. It's the same miniature, literally (because it is a hybrid kit) leg-wise and lower-torso-wise.

Personally I'm not a fan of the FW Commander or XV9 suits but each to their own. This just looks like a bigger version of it.

i want that gun to replace my riptide's Ion Accelerator. That thing is fething scary looking lol.

Is this thing a T5 MC or something? Its clearly bigger than crisis suits or even broadsides, but doesnt look as big as a riptide if only slightly. Base being the big give-a-way its not suppose to be AS big as the riptide.

Have to admit that this things dual weapons is one thing i wish the riptide could do. Ditch the nova shield and offhand weapons for a 2nd Ion Accelerator - dual S8 AP2 pi plates ftw since the IA riptide doesnt even need the nova charge anyway.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

Love the guns, everything else is just okay. When I first saw it I actually thought it looked like a stealth suit head.

Its the Riptide kit. with added resin bits.

so it is exactly the same size as a riptide

Double ions would be awesome.

It IS a riptide kit with some extra bits on it. According to the email blurb about it, the Earth caste has sacraficed mobility for more firepower and protection. What that means is anyones guess. Probably a permanant 4 or 3 ++, and no jet pack. The guns are "Pulse submunition cannons". Do we have a basis for comparison on that? I dont think there were any nifty 'pulse' weapon types in the Taros campaign book but i dont have the copy on me (at work).

I would imagine 4++ since it clearly has two big freakin guns, and knowing the Tau current meta i doubt theyre a single twin-linked gun.

All these badass models FW keeps pumping out makes me want to start collecting them bad lol...but its sooo expensive even compared to the normal stuff and i havent met anyone yet that allows FW stuff outside apoc anyway (and i HATE APOC lol)
