We're talking about why you would bail out corporations over individuals. I'm attempting to explain it to you.

By that do you mean is the English government as stupid as your government? YES they are.

Nope. What I mean is why are you telling others how to get their financial house in order when yours is equally a shambles. You managed to dodge the other questions that I asked nicely though.

Besides, I don't get to vote in the US elections until I'm naturalized

Yes, very good, but while we can recognise that increasingly more people are in it to get what they can as fast as they can, we also have to acknowledge that that doesn't describe all people. Not just yet, anyway.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

True enough, but when you offer exorbitant bonus packages that are tied to quarterly performance you invite that sort of behavior.

Life does not cease to be funny when people die any more than it ceases to be serious when people laugh.

Yeah, absolutely. 2 and 20 or whatever variation you want has produced exactly that at all manner of hedge funds - leverage to the hilt, invest in high risk high return, and if it pays off we all win, and if it collapses (as it has to sooner or later) then the investor loses while the hedge fund manager retires to his Manhattan high rise.
