Gor with Big Horns

So i am new to WHFB as a whole, but we are having an Escalation League at my LFGS and i have decided to start Beastmen. The starting points level is 750 and it is going up by 250 every 2 weeks. If someone could give me a lil bit of a run down of the book as a whole i would be very thankful. I really liked beastmen because of the Minotaur models! Here is my 750 list as of right now.

Gorebull- Heavy armor, Shield, Ramhorn Helm

Gor Herd- x19 man, Full Command, Shields

Ungor Raiders- x5 man, Full Command

Minotaurs- x5 man, Full Command, Extra HW

Thanks yall!

You want a rundown? Okay. I'll run through the good/competitive stuff.

Beastlord: Good for getting the LD 10 in the list, and babysits bestigor and level 4. Not too great at combat, so he generally runs with the stubborn crown,. charmed shield, and 4+ ward.

Great Bray Shaman: Most important character in the book. He provides magical defense, and offense. The standard lore is death because of the versatility. Combined with other aspects you can get dual wildforms from your basic level 1 mages, and a reverse wildform from him.(Soulblight) And he can also snipe characters, which is hugely effectively.

Wargor: Second most important character in the list, and it could be argued as the most important. The beast banner is a must take due to the S4 gor you achieve with it. Search the 206 build for the normal BSB. (A BSB allows you to reroll all LD checks)

Bray Shamans: You take 3 of these guys to camp around ht eshard of the herdstone. This grants you a million power dice before channels.

Gor herd: These guys are the best core you have available to you at what they do. With a single wildform+206 BSB they go up to S5, T5. Which is really good for core.

Ungor Raiders: These guys are ridiculously cheap, and will come in useful in the late game. They can redirect, and take potshots. As a chaff drop, they're really good. AND they're skirmishers.

Tuskgor chariots: Due to personal experience, I say these are amazing for killing disk mages. And they're cheap. And can bait charges. And can provide impact hits to existing combats.

Bestigor: These guys are a amge bunker, and provide you LD 10 for the deathsnipes. As well as S6.

Razorgor: Lone Razorgor are also cheap chaff.

Harpies: These serve the same purpose as ungor raiders, in addition to that, they hunt war machines with their 10 attacks and high initiative.

The theme of the army is redirect, and engage on your terms. If you do that, the army is brutally good.

Couple pointers:

Never give anything in the book (except a lord or hero) a shield. Those Gor should have AHW.

Minos are great, but really do not work without a substancial investment in points. Personally I would not run them without a Doombull and 2 Gorbulls to put in the front rank. Regular minos at T 4 just bleed CR.

FC on Minos in my experience is pointless, you cant take a magical banner, so save the points. The only one that is viable is the champ but at 20 points for an extra attack and option of taking a 25 point magical wpn, item or talisman is a bit much. However taking him to leave you Mino char free to rack up CR is worth it.

I would give the Gorebull the Armor of Destiny and a Great Weapon and call it a day.

FC on Ungor Raiders is NOT an option, they can only take a musician

BSB is THE most important character in that army. Most standard build ( HA, Shield, BSB, Gnareled Hide, the Beat Banner ) otherwise known as the 206 build

Shadow and death is cool and all, but the synergy available from Lore of Beasts is in my opinion far superior.

Good luck

I'm not a particular fan of the 206 bsb build i prefer the 146 build (even though admittedly it isn't a thing the way the 206 is), heavy armour, shield, standard of discipline, gnarled hids and bsb obviuosly which frees up your bestigors magical banner to take the banner of swiftness. a horde of bestigors moving 6" is class

Then you're solely reliant on wildform for your gor. S4 gor are infinitely better than an extra inch of movement. As they can then fight most things in the game and win, due to numbers ans being S+T 4.

I just don't like my BSB in with my gors, pop him in there and when he gets killed you're basically murdering expensive orcs (gors)

thanks very much guys!! And DarkAvenger, i have looked back at all of your other posts and have enjoyed them! No i do not want to play WFB just for competion, BUT i do play in as many as i can. Are they very competitive in this day and age?

Boom

When your opponent starts to complain that your army is overpowered and you look down at your Beastmen army book and smile to yourself, your doing something right

Depends on the build and meta. If WoC are popular maybe, if it is a balanced meta and you play carefully, hell yes. When you roll a 7 dice phase and after channels you end up on a 12 dice phase, which can replenish dice with purple sun and the snipes, you're looking at magical offense dominance.

And a single wildform makes gor brutal. Bestigor deal with knights so easily its funny. I had a beastmen player dominate the local meta simply due to his skill with chaff, his magic and gor.
