Thanks Fraz, I'll swing some yer way if I can... heard we needed water but I think this is crazy/magnificent.

I've been here 13 years and have never seen anything like this. We got half of our annual rainfall in a few days and there's more to come. What makes this especially surprising is that September is usually bone dry.

For those of you that are local, the entire front range is under a flood watch until midnight and we're expecting another 1"-3" depending upon where you are. We aren't done with this mess yet. Be careful on the roads.

Damn. We got pounded up here in Toronto a couple of months back, but luckily it was mostly cleaned up within a week or two, and it was only a fraction of the hit that Calgary took a few months before that, where I had some friends working on the cleanup and checking in. Totally empathize how it can feel to have a wall of water descend from up on high.

The range is the prairie (as in "home, home on the range..."), so the front range is the part of the prairie that meets the rocky mountains. It cuts the entire state in half and extends north in to Wyoming and south in to New Mexico. The entire Denver metro area sits on the front range.

Ah. So I guess I'm kind of in the Front Range then

If you're in the Denver area, there's no "kind of" about it. If you live near a creek or reservoir keep the news on.

Oh, and the news is reporting that people are fishing in suburban neighborhood streets and actually catching them.

I won't be concerned if I see a swimming snake. On the other hand, if an elk swims by, then I'll know it's time to panic.
