I'm mostly bringing this up because I never see anyone mention it.

I plan on taking a Commander with 2 Missile Pods, Target Lock, and Drone Controller. Attaching him to a Marker Drone Squad and putting them behind an ADL.

Most lists I see say something like "Commander manning the Quad Gun....."

I plan on one of the Marker Drones manning it, they get the commanders BS anyways.

Well only the commander can shoot at a different unit than the marker drones. The marker drone on the Quad Gun will be shooting at the same target the other drones are marking. The Quad can't benefit from the MLs though. Kind of a weird set up.

I'm also wondering if a drone can man a Quad Gun, and i suppose they can. They are considered squad members for all purposes via TE:C pg 33, so i guess they can! BEEP BOOP.

This is why most people put the commander on the Quad Gun. You can always get a Fireblade and stick him on the gun too. BS5 with splitfire isn't too shabby. Up to you though.

The cool thing about the buffy Commander (who bought no weapons for himself) manning the Quad Gun is that he can use it with the interceptor rule during the enemy's turn, and still use all his buff signature items in his own turn because he isn't shooting any weapons. Best of both worlds since you can get that BS5 to pay for itself. O'Vesa and a second Riptide with target lock crush souls when they're ignoring cover and re-rolling misses with tank hunters / monster hunters.

Pretty neat idea if you're taking a shooty Commander.

Hmm good points about having to shoot at what the unit shoots... I was neglecting to consider that.

Looks like it might be the commander manning it after all. I was trying to think of a way that he could still shoot his own weapons. Still not a big loss.

Or you could equip him with weapons and shoot with those in the following turn
Interceptor only locks the weapon out for the next turn.

Just wondering what makes you assume the quadgun can't benefit from ML support? As far as I can tell. Markerlights work on all weapons fired by Tau units. And the rulebook says all manual fired weapons benefit from both the weapon and users special rules.
