I have read his rules and he seems like an awesome upgrade to a tank.
From my understanding he has two requisitions to be an upgrade:
-It has to be a tank.
-The tank has to be taken in the Ultramarines-Detachment.

So my idea is to find the most ridiculous tank that would benefit from his upgrade, everything included!
I've already checked it and I am sad to report that Super-Heavies like the Baneblade or Stormlord cannot take him :(

A Rhino. Because why not?

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Awesome, awesome!
It's actually classified as a tank (unlike most SHV), so that works

But can it be taken as an Ultramarine-option?
That's the problem with SHV's, even if they were tanks they still count as an IG-tank that everyone can take.

Why don't you pop him into a Phobos (stock) land raider with a spare MM. Wanna get sillier? Throw in a motf and/or techmarine as well as servitors. Unless something has changed, the MotF and tech should be able to both use the servitors for loads of repair action!

Just if you wanna be crazy

The Fellblade is a super heavy, and therefore exists "outside" the normal Ultramarine's detachment. Don't think this would fly.

A Land Raider Spartan or Achilles are about the heaviest vehicle you can jam him in, or the Terminus Ultra I suppose.

Since the Fellblade is a Marine Tank, I would not say no if you wanted to field Chronus in it.

It's fluffy and would be bad ass.

Had him in a LRC last night against GK.

Worked awesome until they got a lucky psi-cannon shot on him and rolled a six on the pen chart. Up till then, it was pretty humorous to have all his benefits, 4 HP and AV14 all around lol

Put him into an Iron Hands Achilles with a MotF and some Techmarines behind him.,

Enjoy your immortal tank.

A tank hunting railhead would like a word about that...

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

Not an Ultramarine tank though is it?

I think it was said that he could only be in ultramarines main detachment so apparently no IH shenanigans...

As for the railhead... I still think a land raider is the best way to try to abuse chronus, we all know it isn't inherently viable. Possibly borrowing a PFG character from allied dark angels but we've already spent a fortune on our ubertank.

I still think chronus could be amusing in a more casual game though.

Can he only be deployed with the Ultramarines?

Yup.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Thing is... Why would you want to add him to an IH Tank?

He gives it IWND anyway.

that would be why he is an ultramarine and why the OP was asking specifically about Ultramarine tanks.

think that the enw anti air tank could be a giggle behind the ADL. using the killer missle system at BS5 means that all those skimmers and flyers are going to be hit most of the time.

I thought of suggesting that new tank... are they av11? Seems like he's doubling the cost and its still liable to get popped fast. Still could be cool.

The problem with putting him in a LR is the guns are all TL'd anyway, so his BS5 is a little underutilized. On the plus side, barring a lucky hit, that tank is going to take forever to kill.

Put him in something with a lot of non-TL'd guns, like an auto/las or dakka pred, you get more milage out of his ballistic skill, but it's going to be easier to get in a kill shot from the side/back and just blow him up.

I think he's a lot more viable in this codex then he was in the last one, but is still a chunk of points. And depending what tank you put him in, some of those points are going to be wasted.
