Unless I'm mistaken White Scars counts as codex marines for alliance purpose (i don't have the codex).
So you get your Tau as home objective holders with their interceptor riptides and broadsides and get Khan with bikes for some forward action.

It just seems horrendously unfair to me.

Even better primary Tau with bikes as counter attackers and Late game objective takers, especially with a 5 grqv gun cmd squad.

Still not as good as Tau/Eldar though imo.

This, unfortunately.

Its nice, but in the current meta, will still run into problems when those bikes get hit by an AP2 cover ignoring large blast from the enemy Riptide. That's probably the biggest problem. Heldrakes, too.

Probably be fun to play though.

Watch out. You'll get put on ignore for pointing out that Tau/Eldar are very good.

Honestly, most of the people here who use the Ignore feature, only improve the Dakka experience with every person they ignore and thus decrease the possible interactions they can have.

I think either way you go as the primary detachment, a Tau/Space Marine combo will do two things. Be really good on the tabletop, and murder the fluff in ways not thought possible.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

It also depends on how WAAC you want to be.

It's not that unfair. It certainly has some advantages, but it's hardly an automatic victory. It's made a little trickier since it isn't something people will be experienced in, especially not the bike contingent, for a little while. Once everyone's got a little experience facing that particular enemy, the difficulty will level out. It's hardly broken, WAAC, and it's not even particularly unfluffy. (ESPECIALLY not with the White Scars.)

Esp. as White Scars tried to wipe out a Tau homeworld (Dal'yth) in the Damocles Crusade

Tau are realists, they will ALWAYS unite against the greater threat.

White Scars agree that many other things are that greater threat, and marines are good soldiers.

They work fine together, and frankly, WS main with Tau allies could be very strong, bringing good campers and AA to a very mobile and aggressive biker force.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.
