So we are starting a new campaign, and my first opponent is brining his new and shinny Demons Army. I'm excited to play and dumbfoundeda s to what to do.

I've actaully never faced a demon army before, just never played out. I have 750 points but am at a total loss as to what to field.

Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated.

what models do you have at your disposal and do you have any idea what types of models he will be running?


.... personally at 750 I would run

libby - 65
command squad (5 vets with bolters, banner of devastation) - 165

tactical squad (sergeant, 4 marines, flamer) - 75
tactical squad (sergeant, 4 marines, flamer) - 75
tactical squad (sergeant, 4 marines, flamer) - 75

land raider crusader (multi-melta, deathwing vechicle) - 290

= 745

keep the tactical squads on objectives and let the land raider do the killing ... 24 twin-linked bolter rounds / 4 twin-linked assault cannon rounds / 1 multi-melta shot (from the LRC) and if he does get a lucky pen you can make him reroll it with the DWV rule.

At 750 I doubt he will have much to deal with AV14 also.

Hey Waldo, thanks for the input, I have everything but the LR but I like the idea though. He'd have shat a brick.

I did something similar, well, simliar in the fact that i sat back and shot the feth out of them and to great effect:

Librarian with PFG

I took two combat squads with plasma guns

1 full tac squad with a plasma gun and plasma cannon

Devs with 4 heavy bolters

2 Dreads with Plasma cannons and CCFs

I tabled him, I think he got 4 marines.

I put the Devs in font of my Librarian, with the Dreads beside him, gaev them all the 4++ and prescienced the 12 Heavy Bolter shots, the three plasma guns and 3 plasma cannons were on clean up duty.

Not keen on some of the choices in this list tbh. The flamers on the tac squads seem very out of place considering
the men will want to remain stationary to use their salvo bolters, and also the amount of anti horde fire you have already is enough.

The LRC is very expensive for the points bracket being played. I understand you want to expand that bolter banner range, but 300 points for it is a lot. More plasma and missiles would be useful in case of MC's which would be a likely hq choice in a daemons army.

Yeah he brought a deamon prince that looked like he ate waaaay to much plasma for breakfast.

It was a Khorne Themed Army but i won the initiative. I wiped his first unit of bloodletters before they even moved with my Heavy Bolters, all 12 hit and wounded, 1 survied, but not the fire from the Libby.

second unit was whittled away by both 5 man squads.

The rest tired but some wounds on the Demon Prince.

He got closenough with his juggernoughts to assault but failed, so I pumped them full of plasma and assaulted with both Dreads, they ripped them to pieces in a series of poor invul rolls.

took out a second unit of Bloodletters to boltgun fire, did some work on the third and then added a nother wound to the demon prince.

He tried assulting my Devs, but when you overwatch 4 boltgun shots and 12 heavy bolters, some are bound to hit and then my librarain ripped the rest apart.

He was tabled turn 3.
