Is there any way to play Warhammer 40K tabletop version online?

I've heard of Vassal or something making tabletop 40k games over the web possible. It's top-down, though, which apparently makes the rules on line of sight a bit... iffy.

Oh that doesn't matter too much I've played heroscape top down. But if it is Vassel that you're talking about I heard that they got in trouble about it with GW and they asked them to shut it down.

:: shrugs :: I dunno, man. The closest I've ever gotten to playing 40k online is Dawn of War, but that's not what you want since you specified tabletop game.

Hmm I don't know. Maybe. I heard that people were still using modules like that even though it wasn't legal but maybe something changed GW's mind. I'll ask around on the Vassel forum site (Assuming there is one)

If you're playing it, it's not like the GW Gestapo are going to come kick your door down and seize your computer. It's still supported to some degree, although I don't know how much. People still play it regularly from what I hear.

Well that's a Rapier Laser Destroyer for one thing.

LOS in Vassal is actually spectacular.. you have a straight line so its very cut and dry. The only thing the game doesnt do well/at all is multiple level terrain. You have to mourn its loss and move past it. With that said the game is still thriving and played by more than a few people. There have been recent updates for most of the new models as well, plus you can count as anything not currently represented rather easy.

Actually you can do it like with how you do for Warmachine Vassal, you generally have to agree upon it with someone whether it'll be leveled and how far it can see.
