New series from Black Library. This phamlet sized booklet acturally gives you advice on how to play your units in a game of 40K.

28pages, $2.99CAD

I think this series will sell well especially to kids and newcomers to 40K who is trying to figure out what model to buy and how to use it in a game of 40K.

Really? To me it sounds like an appalling waste of money. Isn't this exactly the sort of article that shoudl be in WD?

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Pretty much this. I was actually offended gw would try to sell something like that. GW should know by now that the tactics they use/recommend are obsolete within a month.

seams like money wasted to know something you already know. people who have wraithknights have played them and know how to use them already.

Hehe, knowing GW's rather dubious understanding of their own game, i realy wonder who should buy these "tacticas", especialy when there are more than a few websites around where people who actualy know what they are doing can give you solid advise. Of course, other companies would release short tacticas for free on their website, even if it is just to attract new customers.

Though I do wonder how good their painting guides are? Anyone bought the "how painting citadels model guide?"

Hrm, for beginners the book isn't bad but you won't get much farther than good tabletop standard. For more advanced stuff i highly recommend Massive Voodoo, Bohun's various tutorials and various other internet sources. I personaly like to check the webpages of the better cmon posters for advice and tutorials

PS: Forgot to mention Miniaturementor if you wish to spend some money. Bohun's tmm tutorial there is the best i have ever seen.

It would be interesting to hear from someone that has actually read it. Guess we'll have to wait until October.

King Death has a very good point. GW does not look at 40K as a competitive game, and hence any tactics they offer would be suspect. For example:

"When facing Tau, you should take a Wraithknight with a Ghostglaive and Scattershield and charge their lines. Tau cannot stand up to a monstrous creature model in close combat..." /roll eyes

Other companies offer this kind of information for free, either as "Tactics Notes" in the rule book/army book, in that companies' magazine, online in a digital format, or, best yet, FORUMS THAT ALLOW PLAYERS TO TALK ABOUT THE GAME.

The painting guides are not bad, though they heavily emphasize using GW products and the Heavy Metal style of painting, rather then actually teach you how to paint.

Because then that would eat into potential wraithknight and painting guide sales.
