Been thinking about how competitive this build could be:
HQ
MoTF- Conversion Beamer, Force Axe, Melta Bombs
Elite
Ironclad- HF, 2 HK, Pod
Ironclad- HF, 2 HK, Pod
Ironclad- HF, 2 HK, Pod
Troop
Tac Squad- PG/Combi-PG, Pod
Tac Squad- PG/Combi-PG, Pod
Tac Squad- PG/Combi-PG, Pod
Tac Squad- PG/Combi-PG, Pod
Heavy
Ironclad- HF, 2 HK, Pod
Ironclad- HF, 2 HK, Pod
Ironclad- HF, 2 HK, Pod
Total=1850
Basically 5 Ironclads with IWND drop turn one with 10 HK's in the enemies face, then MoTF, last ironclad and Troops drop for objective claiming/ mopping up after the 1st wave.
Thoughts?

Those missiles hit on 3, which means you hit with let's say seven. Average armor is 12 lets say, which means 2 or 3 of those pen, with 1 or two wrecking one vehicle. I don't know if that is worth all the points. Why not pay for meltas? I would also drop the axe from the MotF. I don't see him getting into combat often enough for it to matter.

The iron clads already get a melta standard on the other arm.
The hunter killers just add a good threat to AV10-12, and adding that to the melta gun each iron clad has its quite a threat

Yeah they come with DCCW w/storm bolter (which you swap for Heavy Flamer) and a second DCCW w/melta.

i'm not in love with the HK missiles either I think I would rather save those points and invest in a few assault launchers.
You also have no AA. your list will get murdered by FMC and heldrakes as you have no reliable way of forcing grounding checks and no cover from the baleflamer which will delete a squad a turn starting on turn 2.
It would be a fun list and I think would overwhelm a lot of lists out there but would get murder by some others.

I agree with Pony, again...
I'd drop two Ironclads and go with 2 stalkers. That'll give you some AA. It looks like a fun list to play and I won't knock you for using it. But if your want to be competative than you are too limited. I don't think the ironclads are all that great and having 6 of them you are really limiting yourself.
Also, you say 5 ironclads with 10 HKs on the pods, but you have 6 ironclads and pods with 12 HKs listed. Is that a mistake?

AA is your biggest weakness. Dropping all the HK missiles and an Ironclad (still get 5 turn 1) nets you 300 points. Drop all the gear from the MotF and you're at 340. Drop a few HFs or plasmas down to meltas on the tac squads to find another 35 and you've enough points for 3 Storm Talons.
Otherwise looks solid. AV13 en masse still causes a lot of armies real problems. FMC spam is your biggest weakness.

Quite right there is 6 clads with 12 HK's between them, but it would be 10 turn 1 from what would be on the board.

i didn't think AA would be a massive issue for the list, troops won't like helldrakes but Podding in should help me to minimise what they can hit when they come on, and being iron hands they will get a FNP save from it. and the clads are not going to be fussed by helldrakes. What about swapping a few DCCW's for Hurricane bolters on the clads, free to do and would give me plenty of chances for grounding FMC's?

Drop a tac squads for 2 hunters with extra armor and your all set to counter heldrakes and most tau and elder lists Automatically Appended Next Post: And don't DP the motf. His conversion Beamer causes more damage from afar

See the thinking but i'm thin on troops as it is with only 4 5 man units.
The reason the MoTF was in a pod was so he isn't the only thing on the board in case i go second.

I don't think taking 2 Hunters solves your problem. If you go second you're just giving your opponent something to do turn 1. In a DP list Storm Talons are the best fit for AA.

interesting list. you could consider having the double stalker like above, then reserve one, because drop pods have to start in reserve. the nwith the other hunter, keep him out of LOS. tha tshould keep them both aive to deal with fliers

I agree with FlingitNow, but I suggest dropping one Ironclad, should be 200pts and just enough to bring in a StormRaven for AA. It will do better than a single Storm Talon and doesn't effect your T1 Ironclad Drop.
I can't find the pts in your list to bring a Storm Talon to escort the Raven though.

If you are willing to live with the reduced T1 firepower, go for it. If you can take out the enemy AA your Ravens will be absolutely brutal. I like this tactic and list the best.

Not even close to correct and not very helpful.
Three Stortalons with the minimum upgrade, Skyhammer, comes to 375pt, more with better AT/ AA upgrades. Two StormRavens is 400. That is certainly more comparable.
Two StormRavens has the same number of HP, with better Armor and a greater fire output per turn vs AA due to AP2/1.

I agree with putting some range the your iron clads. The Ravens aren't getting full use thought if there is nothing in them. Though i would have a talon escorting it. Then you get two fliers at once. if master of the forge is in your raven though, he could repair it on a 3+. which would make it very hard to kill since it already has it will not die.

I would swap the Raven back to an Ironclad. I think getting 5 down turn 1 causes so many more problems than getting 4 down. 2 Talons gives you decent AA.
