Still deciding

Combat Doctrine:
Rapid Deployment/Armoured Company (Rhinos, Razorbacks, and Land Raiders), heavy reliance on Veterans.

Strength:
Current strength resides at 50% of what the Codex Astartes dictates, as chapter is newly founded and is still reaching full combat strength. Due to traditions amongst the founding of the chapter, the full chapter strength is dictated at 667 battle marines.

Battle Cry:
For Gliese! For Dorn! For the Emperor!

Insignia:
Imperial/Crimson Fists Iconography, but in Chapter colors

Origins:
After the destruction of the Imperial Pleasure World, Gliese 667b, the High Lords of Terra commissioned a new Space Marine chapter to patrol the space surrounding the area. As part of the 26th Founding, the Gliesian Dawn was created using Crimson Fists and Imperial Fists gene-seed. As a chapter of Imperial Fists heritage, the Gliesian Dawn do not produce the Betcher's Gland or the Sus-an Membrane.

After the destruction of the Paradise world, Felicidadae, the High Lords of Terra deemed it necessary to create a space marine chapter in that region. Due to the heavy xenos influence in the area, the gene-seed stock of this new chapter was to be created from the Crimson Fists, who had yet to suffer their crippling losses during the fight against the Arch-Arsonist Snagrod. With the new gene-stock being used to turn humans from the local feral world Selvagem, Imperial Designation: Gliese 667Cc, into the first recruits of the Gliesian Dawn, the chapter is quickly building its ranks to patrol the space surrounding the the area.

Reasons for Creation

I'd do something to make the insignia slightly different. Maybe a fist on a symbol of some sort.

I'm thinking of the Imp/Crimson fist in the circle that it is known for, but adding something like sunrays above it to give it the image of a rising sun (ala dawn). My original color scheme was too close to Black Templars, but I only realized it after I had finished the SM Painter.

The 667 marines thing is a bit weird...
Other than that all seems shiny.

I'm still working things out, the the whole 'system' that the chapter patrols/is based out of is the only human habitable systems we have found, Gliese 667. It's a tri-solar system with 3 planets in that goldilocks zone that could potentially hold human life (i.e. if we were to travel there we might not immediately die). I've got very little holding the marine chapter to 667 marines beyond that, and could easily get rid of it in favor of the standard marine chapter. I'll think about it some more, and if I can't figure out a good reason beyond, "GLIESE 667!!!!" then I'll cut that aspect, but I still like the idea of the chapter still being only about about 500 marines as they've only been operating for what, like 250 years?

Any ideas on armor colors? the few ideas I had last night didn't pan out on marines too well

The chapter may simply be slow at recruiting rather than sticking to half strength for a fairly arbitrary reason.

I'll paint up an orange marine and see how it works, as to the half strength thing, yeah if I drop the 667 number from their chapter the 500 marines or so would simply because they're still building up to full strength.

Actually I'm kind of liking that idea. As I'm sitting here thinking about it I could seeing a light purple being the accent color of the chapter to sort of bring in the colors of a dawn. I like where your head is at Purps.

Another thought that has been 'bugging' me is the chapter symbol. Right now I'm in a bit of a toss up. The 'Imperial Fist' chapter symbol would be easy to do, and I can pick up semi-decent shoulder pads from GW, I've already got Astral Claws shoulder pads and rhino doors for a failed project. that might be just the ticket for this project. Earlier I was discussing the use of the Imperial Fists/Crimson Fist icons and painting a sunburst, but the Tyrant's Claw symbol from ForgeWorld would work just as well as it has the 'fist' (claw) and the sunburst coming from it would be easy to represent the dawn.

Thoughts?

It's less of a fist and more of a claw... I'll keep thinking about the icon as I work on the chapter as I won't have the shoulder pads for a few months.

That would be a pretty good fit.

Laziness won out since I will be getting some nice things down the road from the HH FW stuff and the two Crimson Fist models I wish to use already have Fist iconography all over them.
