Hello, dakka. First off I'm not sure if this is the right section. I'm wanting to build a Pure Inquisitor army (Non Ordo Xenos inquisitors, so my tau friend doesn't start frothing at the mouth)

However, I'm not too fond of most of the GW models for inquisitorial henchmen. They feel...bleh. I don't know, I just don't like most of them. Especially the orangutan(orangutans get very uppity when referred to as monkeys).

Can anyone recommend me some alternative Inquisition models to get me started off in the right direction(maybe alternate assassins too)?

I've already got a host of unpainted chimeras, so I'm not lacking in that department.

Dreamforge Eisenkern make great inquisitorial troops with carapace armour. The guy on the left, compared to a Cadian on the right. Dreamforge also produce some stompy robots that would work well as Dreadknights.

The Dreamforge leviathan is a tad bigger than a dreadknight though. It's about 10" tall.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

There's a new 15mm scale one being launched nowish that's pretty much perfectly sized for it iirc. The 28mm one yeah is just short of warhound titan sized.

I utilize a mix of models to represent my henchmen. Chaos Cultists, Empire Archers (with the bows replaced with las pistols), and some spare-bitz Frankensteins make up my motley crew of dudes. I think that mixing and matching from various lines (take a look at some of the Necromunda models still for sale on the GW site) makes for better and fluffier henchmen groups.

No dreadknights. Only inquisition. This is a fluffy fun army with no grey people in power armor.

That's the great thing about this model though, no sign of a GK at all. Could fluff it up as an inquisition war machine.

Spoiler:

Pics from here.

The second one (Leviathan Mortis) with the skull face seems pretty damn Inquisitioney to me ; ) Just an option anyway. Did you like the stormtroopers for henchmen?

Another option I've seen is Empire Flagellants for psykers.

There are probably dozens of threads on this which I am not going to spend time trying to find for you, lol. However based off memory and experience:

Death Cult Assassins can be made very well with a combination of IG torso and arms and Warhammer Fantasy Wood Elves hooded heads, cloaks and legs.
Fantasy Empire and Brettonian models or parts fit very well with what a lot of people think of the inquisition to be.

Check out my gallery (in fact search the galleries in general for ideas) to see a bunch of kit bashed henchmen (servitors, psykers, monkies etc; ).

I may be able to use a leviathan. If as nothing else then an Inquisition themed titan(If I do I'll post it on here). There's a website who has WWI esque troopers(with the wide helmets) I may use. They've also got some not-power armor fellows. Thanks though. Those Dreamforge soldiers look nifty too.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll remember that the next time I search Inquisition on this section and turn up nothing. In fact here's the most recent thread of it's kind doing the aforementioned search. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/469505.page#4646423

I'll remember that the next time I ask for conversions.

LOL, indeed. Yes the searching around here isn't the best. You have to use multiple words over multiple searches, inquisition, inquisitors, henchmen etc; to have a chance.

Kitbashed models are technically 'alternative models' you know, since they don't look like the ones GW sells as inquisitorial henchmen.

Anyway glad I could help. With a sunny attitude like yours you will go far in life!

Alrighty, I've been up to a lot of Inquisimunda stuff at the mo, so here's a couple of kits I'd probably recommend for inquisitorial stuff!

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440092a&prodId=prod10006 Flagellants - To me, these are almost essential to anything Inquisition. The box contains multiple robed bodies, scrolls, books, hourglasses, keys, flails, skulls and other grimdark bits, pluss some lovely, crazed looking heads (including one pleasant fellow who seems to have set his on fire.) Also, guy in stocks - makes a superb rogue psyker! To me, a few of these kits are a must.

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440091a&prodId=prod20048 Free Company - Okay, so these gentlemen are a tad dated (bloody ancient kit), but they're still useful as a base. They have a nice, rugged, rogueish look to them, making them a spiffing starting point for making mercenaries and bounty hunters. The heads that come with them are a bit dated, as are the arms - check bellow for my recommended bitz!

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440247a&prodId=prod1850000 and http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440247a&prodId=prod1900033 Command Squads - Now, as Inquisition, you're gonna need some sci-fi gubbinz in order to keep your men and women in the right millennium. That's where these kits come in. Full of little characterful bitz such as bionics, bandaged limbs, eye-patches etc. as well as the standard Imperial Guard hallmarks.

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440247a&prodId=prod1140076 and http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440247a&prodId=prod1140075 Priest - Found these two gents, rather lovely if a wee bit old school looking models, would fit perfectly into an Inquisitorial army. One even has a plasmagun making for a top-notch acolyte.

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440093a&prodId=prod1530028a Empire Wagons - Okay, so this is a very big kit and I would personally recommend getting the specific parts off of a bitz site. The wizard and his assistants make for great henchmen mind you, with arms carrying books and scrolls and what not.

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440090a&prodId=prod20018 Wizard - A classic, this is. Great for psykers, priests and very devout acolytes, this kit comes with a load of characterful touches such as book-holding hands, a very fiery brazier , a staff mounted orrery and a burning sword! (watch out, that's getting a wee bit heretical...)

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440209a&prodId=prod1770004a Cultists -Okay, first of all I would recommend buying the full squads off of ebay - far better deal. Secondly, I absolutely adore these guys! They are a superb starting point for all sort of henchmen. They have that rebellious, non-uniformed look and lots of strange gas masks and headgear that gives a great sinister feel. Also, as a plus, despite being Chaos, they bear very little heretical iconography - a few easily clipped-off stars here and there and a few symbols that are easy to cut or file off.

That's some of the GW kits I can think of right now. Now, time for itty-bitty-bitz!

NOTE: These are all non-GW parts, some GW may not let you use models and/or armies bearing a high quantity of non-GW parts.

Okay, so one of the big difficulties with Inquisition warbands is that most of yer troops will be kitted out with either bolters or stormbolters. Getting those to fit human sized models en masse is difficult. Well, Anvil Industries to the rescue! They produce several Imperial Guard scale bolters (or autoguns) and a stormbolter plus arms to hold them! You actually don't need the arms as the guns come with left hands that allow them to fit Cadian arms with a bit of cutting. The arms are useful mind ya if you're not keen on doing this.

Well, that's all for now. Hope that helps!

Delboy, that's a mighty post! Lots of info. One comment. I've made henchmen with space marine bolters and they look perfectly fine actually. Stormbolters however are another story
