Hi everyone,

I am in the process of creating a gaming table. But I didn't want the conventional table like a cityfight or a green countryside board. Instead I'm thinking of a wierd surreal Harlequin or Daemon world, sort of like Alice in Wonderland (Acid edition) or something out of Salvador Dali's mind.

As for color wise, the palatte will be black, white and shades of grey. No other colors.

I have drawn out some concept art and I will need some help for some additional scatter terrain ideas and what materials should I use for terrain creation of this sort.

-Animation posing dolls used as statues or corpses.
-Geometrical shapes as buildings and scatter terrain pieces.

-The forest made out of square sticks, with checkered platforms shaped to become leaves.
-The clock is suspended in the air and spewing out clock hands and gears on to the black inky river.

Thanks.

looking really good, some random floating stair cases might be fun, maybe try working in some optical illusions if possible, some random shapes floating that from a certain angle produce a chaos gods symbol?
a hill of raised columns could work as well
looking forward to progress

Spires or cone-like points that have warped checkerboard pattern stretching the floor upwards.

Yep, checkered hills, bright yellow river, the occasional chess piece
Looking good so far, really love the idea. Is the army based on checkers?

That's a great idea! Some 'ramps' or intermediate heights of the floating squares would be nice for gaming purposes, so models can easily run up into the air on the squares. And how about some squares bent to look like they're peeling up off the floor and spouting into the air in a wave? A big checkered tidal wave? Would provide some nice cover.

It is done! And boy it was ready just in time for the Warhammer 40k tournament at my new local hobby store.

Holy headache Batman!

I think that, if I were to play on that board, I would walk away with the largest headache known to man, and a sense of immense satisfaction of playing on one of the most awesome, unusual and exciting boards ever!

Bravo, sir, excellent work!

Love the idea of someone using a black and white color scheme and then attempting to play on this board without forgetting about some of their troops.

Awesome all around. Definitely hits the harlequin/daemon vibe. Malal would be pleased.

How about a 1 black and 1 white sculpting dolly in an interactive battle pose?
How about a piece that turns 1 short end of the table into a half pipe with the chequered pattern rolling up it? Not really any game effect but would add to the warped look
A big rook that represents a bastion would be fun as well, for a crazy game you could have one or two randomly moving around at the start of each turn?
Have decided to unashamedly steal this for a future project, it is so different and weird it is inspiring.
