I will be running a lot of Cultists in all my builds, probably 2 x 30~ or 3 x 20~ in most cases. I will be using them as objective holders and sometimes keep them in reserve for objectives my side.

However, they are supposed to be what is left of the Prospero Guard.. I did not want to ally in imperial guard for this as they aren't battle brothers and I don't like the traitor guard rules on leadership values.

So in most cases I will be running a Dark Apostle as my primary or secondary HQ choice. I want it to 'feel' like a Dark Apostle, but not as chaosy... more Thousand Sonsy / Prospero Spireguardsy, but not just looking like a normal imperial guard commissar...

Anyone have any thoughts to possible models to use or conversions for a Dark Apostle?

I'd use a mix of bits from the Black Templar upgrades and Thousand Sons upgrades.

I did a super simple conversion of the Dark Vengeance Chosen Champion. I cut the hand away from the skull helm, shaved the human face off, and glued that there. Then I put an open hand in the previous hand's place, put a book from the Dark Angels sprue in it, and gave him the old Chaos Lord backpack. I replaced the mace head with a Chaos icon from the Marine kit, but that's optional:

I always thought this fellow http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440110a&prodId=prod1710146a , on top of the warshrine would make a nifty apostle. Always thought he had a sorta 'preachy' look to him. Personally, I would armour-up his legs and maybe give him a shoulder to identify that he's a space marine. Some sort of vox rig, maybe with some loud speakers mounted on his back might look quite cool.

This is the guy I bought for my own apostle conversion (Hoard O'bits had him separate). He's quite bulky so fits the power armour aesthetic/size nicely even without any thrown on him.

Why didn't I think of this? I'm not going to use him at all, and this looks great!
