Hello everyone,
Just started Hordes and not a clue what I am doing. My son and I were down at the local game shop and they are getting ready to start a journeyman league. I am a long time player of Warhammer and have seen people playing this game but never really paid it much attention other than admire some of the models. But looks like a great way for a Father Son to spend Tuesday nights not in front of a television.
I am playing the Legion and he is going for the circle.
Just looking for some information on what other models to pick up to get to a 35 point army. Were just looking for some direction is all since it is a league and we cant swap out too much. We are both going to stick with the Warlocks we get with the starter and work around those starting models since we have to keep the locks till week 4 and the core box units to week 5 just seems to make sense since its only going 6 weeks.
So any info on either of these units would be greatly appreciated and were starting the painting this weekend and will be sure to post up some of our works and reports.
So far for Circle I have picked up the following models. I based this on what I wanted to paint lol and what was available in the store at the time.
Lord of the Feast
Druids of Orboros
Shifting Stones (was told they were essential)
Stone Keeper (goes with stones)
Overseer
Warpborn Alpha
Razorwing Griffin (just cause he just got them in that day lol.)
Obviously all the models in the 2 player starting box as well.
We have nothing for Legion as of yet since didn't have a clue of what to buy and wanted to get some feedback first from everyone here to see what would be a good starting point.
Thanks for any help.
Thanks for any help

I don´t know anything about Legion but I can help with Circle.
Your list looks fine so far but you could always use some boots on the ground and therefore I recommend Bloodtrackers with Nuala. They have never disappointed me yet and are very self-reliant which is important since pKaya does nothing for infantry. And you lack some heavy hitting therefore I´d get a Warpwolf Stalker, it´s arguably our best non-character heavy and kills infantry dead. On the other hand your regular Feral Warpwolf warped on strength is able to clear even heavy jacks in one go.
You don´t necessarily need a Gorax but it is a staple light beast because if generates up to 4 fury, is very fury-efficient once it´s been hurt and has a killer animus.

I can give you a little help with Legion.
First, the Ogrun Warspear chieftain is a good thing to pick up for your Warspears.
Then I would look at getting a plastic heavy kit and magnetizing it. That will get you a choice of either a second Carnivean, a Ravagore, or a Scythean.
Another heavy you should consider is the Angelius. It hits VERY hard while also being fast and having a useful Animus. Only downside is its more fragile than the other Legion heavies, and that is saying something. Many Legion players use 2 Angelii.
Now, some mandatory support. Shepherds and Forsaken.
Shepherds can heal beasts or take away fury from them(meaning you can force beasts well beyond what your Warlock could normally handle)
Forsaken can also take away fury from a beast, which it then uses the fuel its own abilities. A Forsaken with full fury is basically a guided missile you toss into your opponents army. It is super effective against anything that has Fury and Focus on it at the time she blows up, and not really scary at all against things without Focus or Fury on them.
For Circle, I'll second what Tommse said. Stalker, Bloodtrackers, and Gorax are dead sexy.
The stuff you already picked up is solid as well.
LotF is a good melee solo that can mulch infantry.
Druids are all around good support.
Stones + Keeper are essential. So many things they do for you.
Alpha makes Skinwalkers from ok into amazing.
Razorwing is newish but on paper he looks fantastic.

Thanks so much for both of the replys. I will look into that Legion stuff and see if my LGS has that stuff. I played my first starter box game last night with Circle and got my butt handed to me by Cygnar. Mostly my beginner mistakes but learned a lot from it. Was a lot of fun. Bad thing is I painted the guys Army I lost too lol.

I would recommend also looking online for discounts. Unlike GW, PP doesn't sell direct to the consumer except for a few specific pieces. Which means discounts are abundant.
So unless you are wanting to support a local business I would always look online. You can easily find discounts in the realm of 30% or more. And only wait a few days for shipping.
Its certainly a more reliable way of getting specific miniatures, local stockists often lack complete offerings.

Just for what it's worth, a place called Discount Games Inc seems to give the best discounts I have seen in my (admittedly not too extensive) searching. The people behind it also do a rather entertaining podcast called "chain attack" (what is it with these podcasts named after rules terms?) that evaluates different warlocks/casters.
Oh, they also give free US shipping and reduced international if you spend $50.
Not affiliated with the store or anything, just trying to help you out a bit.

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

Discounts arent that great, and I have been waiting 15 weeks for my order to come in... I dont suggest buying from them.

Shoot them an e-mail. You may have gotten lost in the translation and from my friend's experience they'll treat you right.

Oh I have, once a month since August. The only answer I get is pretty much, it will get here when it gets here. I've talked to Holly many times and, although I hold nothing against her specifically, the way I am being treated is upsetting to say the least.

They could be waiting on PP. I know in the past occasionally certain things sell out faster than they expect. But if it has been 4 months I'd simply as for my money back and go somewhere else. Unless you are doing some crazy pre-order or kickstarter type thing they have no business holding your money that long without giving you the product.
Plus, as soon as you start asking for your money back and/or canceling orders/service then companies suddenly get really interested in helping you.
Works with Comcast. We call them every 6 months saying we are considering some other provider and complaining our bill is too high and what can they do? They usually have some special promotion they can give us for another 6 months.

I suppose I will have to send a email to PayPal and see if I can crow bar a refund through them.

I'd start by asking the company you ordered your stuff from to cancel your order and refund your money
A legit company will do this for you (but probably not like it). More likely the threat of lost business will inspire them to get you your stuff quickly.
Stopping payment thru paypal or your credit card company can lead to issues if the game company does end up sending you your stuff. Now they have provided a service that you have not paid for and they may hit you up witn non-payments fees, late fees, etc and even consider sending you to collections.
Not sure what steps you have taken so far, but stop emailing and start calling. If you have talked to one person ask to talk to their supervisor. Keep a short log of all your conversations, the date and time they happened and who you talked to. If someone says they are going to do something then make sure you follow up on it in a reasonable amount of time. This probably means more like a phone call every week instead of month.
And the whole time don't yell. don't scream. don't threaten. Talk to them calmly and clearly. Ask follow up questions and if them don't give a straight answer ask them straight up and get one.
