Go take a look at the new Bloodwrack Medusa model. See it? Yep, that's right. One big 'ol boobie. Plain as day, right there.
Now, don't get me wrong, I don't have anything against having naked breasts on my models. Far from it, in fact - providing it's in keeping thematically with the model in question, and not just there for its own sake.
What I want to know is, if GW are happy to release this model, then why in the name of almighty Chaos did we end up with the abominations that are the new daemonettes in place of the older ones!?
The hell!?

It seems like the new Dark Elves are heavily inspired by the old style of GW art. When there's boobies, they show boobies.
The Daemonettes are obviously not inspired by this old art, and are more targetted at younger audiences.
The Dark Elves could be seen as a return to form.

I demand that this be the design team's mission statement that goes right at the top of the drawing board for each and every new modelling project from now on.
In all seriousness, though, the boobies are only half the issue I have with the daemonette situation. The older ones, and the seekers too, they had a lithe, sleek allure to them. The sculps have a real sense of deadliness and movement to them. The updated plastics are just... just, ugh. Ugly. Massive hair and crab-claws and all sticky-outy... they're a mess.
Anyway, /rant. The real important message to take away from this, I think, is boobies. Bring back the boobies, GW. The Medusa was a good start, so now lets look at that mission statement again and crack on with the new (old!) and improved (restored!) daemonettes.
Thank you.
EDIT: hmm, how fitting that this particular post should be my 500/501st and see my rank upgraded thusly. Ha!

Well yeah, there's more problems with the Daemonettes than just the lack of boobies. But that design choice was akin to slapping a PG rating on them.

Yep. And in keeping with tradition, when you take something and slap a PG rating on it, it is usually - not always - to the detriment of that something. For example, it was well within the GW design team's creative grasp to both remove the naked breasts and retain the original aesthetic and thematic look and feel for the plastic sculpts. That just didn't happen.
If something is inherently PG, then that's different. But come on, we're talking Slaanesh, here.

Fantasy isn't aimed at younger audiences as much as 40k is. So with daemon models being in both ranges they probably felt the need to tone down. But in models exclusive to one range they can stick with it.

Yeah, the problem here is that both the harpies and Morathi are older sculpts, unlike the current daemonettes which are PG'd updates of the models from the same era as the DE miniatures above.
My point still stands - nay, it is reinforced! If neither the harpies or Morathi had boobie removal, then why did daemonettes?

Because nobody buys Harpies and thus GW didn't feel the need to update them, would be my guess. I mean, breasts or not, those are some rancid sculpts.

There was an unannounced panic withdrawl of Juan Diaz Daemonnettes and Daemonette riders. They never said why. There was some speculation about IP issues.

I don't have the sales numbers, but Harpies are an essential harrassment unit for Dark Elves and in many competitive lists.
Agreed, I use mostly Reaper models

If anything, the current demonettes are closer to the design in the Slaves book then the 6th edition ones were. Same as the Bloodletters not being "Satanalike" anymore and going back to 3rd designs.

I would prefer that this aim is moved from forge world's design team to GW's. That is one scary troll they made.

So, I've created a topic in a forum which touches on the same subject as at least one other topic in a separate forum... Oh Noes! The shame!

I've considered using the new Wychelves with daemonette claws to make some sexier deamons, the medussa would be a good base for a Herald, or even daemon prince.
i miss the old sexy deamonettes, the new lesbian-biker look is nasty, i thought they where meant to distract guardsmen/ empire troops by giving them a boner!

Yeah, I miss the cat woman masked ones as well. They looked lithe, seductive yet deadly, just as a demonette should be.
I prefer the Baphomet styled Khornate demons as well.
