I'm about to run into some money and fancied a change from Necrons and Space Marines, so how does this sound as a first attempt at an eldar list?

HQ
Farseer, Spear – 105
Spirit Seer - 70
Troops
10 Guardians, Shuriken Cannon, - 105
10 Guardians, Shuriken Cannon, - 105
10 Dire Avengers, Exarch – 140
Wave Serpent, Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon – 130
Wraithguard w/ D-Scythes – 210
Wave Serpent, Scatter Laser, Shuriken Cannon – 130
995

Avengers and Wraithguard each go in serpents accompanied by the farseer and spirit seer respectivley while the guardiens hold objectives.

I like the general feel of the list and would prefer not to use other aspect warriors. how could i make it more effective?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
No takers? Should i put harder hitting Bright Lance's on the Serpents to take down vehicles?

Also, If i am just getting Eldar totally wrong, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Like the list, the only suggestion i can make is giving the guardians something other than a shuriken cannon, an EML or bright lance would give you some useful higher strength shots.

I'm keeping them cheap since EML are now double the cost of shuricannons. I thought i might put lances on the serpents since they are the same price as scatter lasers (magnetise or pin so i can swap depending on opponent... probably tau or marines)

Any more input on what could boost this list?

yesh no EML. shuiken cannon or scatters on the gardians would synergise better with the squad.

your doing eldar completetly right, have no fear.

your wave serpents shoube be good enoguh with scatter and serpent shild to take down vehicles. Consider holo feilds on serpents to help em stay alive.

make the dire avenger squad a 5 man with no upgrades, and with points try and get a war lock for each gardian squad.

It seems to me that SL are always the best option for WS. War walkers are going to be one of the better platforms for BL. They were already good, and they got a huge boost this edition with bs4 and 5++ invuln.
I'm not really an eldar player, but I've played many games against them. Still haven't faced a WK but if you're willing to drop the $$ on one it seems like it could overwhelm your opponents army at the 1k mark.
It is also a solid unit to have around when you expand your force. Plus they seem really fun to play. (read: IT'S A GUNDAAAAM!!!)

Would need to check points to be sure but i think i am at 1k

farseer, shard of anaris
spirit seer
20x guardians 2 BL
5 dire avengers
serpent, scatter lasers, cannon, holo
5 d-scythe
serpent, scatter lasers, cannon, holo

park the seer in with the wraithguard, and the farseer with the guardians to make a feerless blob squad. only problem is it gets tarpitted pretty easy so make sure to shoot anything that comes close / screen with the wraithguard.

Alternatively just played a mini RTT with an 850 list

Warlock on Bike

Farseer on bike with shard

7x jetbike 1xcannon

3x jetbike

wraithknight

Took 2nd place.

Wraithknights are very useful at any point level and get downright good at under 1k, might want to look into buying one if you can/ want to.

Thanks, great to know i'm on the right lines. I'll stick to the list as it is for now, but i'll be sure to expand. I'm thinking treat myself to a wraithknight for christmas.

Eh, I don't really like it. Its a solid base, but it just has too many troops to really be competitive.

The rule of thumb is still typically take 1 troop choice per 500 points, so really you should be fine with just the Dire Avengers and Wraiths in Serpents. Guardian Defenders on foot are Alright, but I wouldn't advise them in a list focusing on fast transports. I would shelf them and bring them out in their own Transports in larger games.

If you drop the guardians and one of your HQs it would free up the points for you to add some anti heavy vehicle. Probably 2 Fire Prisms would be the best as they would compliment your Mechanized feel. a Squad of Fire Dragons in a Wave Serpent would also work. Eldar heavy Support is really good, and you are way to heavily invested in mediocre troop units as it is!

Also at 1000 points I would just take a single HQ. Just the Spirit Seer. Farseers are pretty mediocre in mechanized eldar lists currently due to being unable to target anything but their attached squad or the transport while embarked on a wave serpent. Typically I prefer to field Farseers on Jetbikes. But as noted you don't have the points for that and making your Wraithguard scoring is more important.

For now, I'll just be getting 2 battle forces, the wraithdudes and the heroes, (sell the vipers, because they are ugly add models imo)

I realise it isn't the most higly competetive list, so i'll take your advice on board when i expand but for now it gets me a good solid base, from which i can expand in different directions.I also don't play competatively, so a semi competative 1k army for a good price is right up my street.

I'll probably head more in a wraith heavy direction when i expand to bigget points, but i do really like eldar tanks.
