Subject: 500pt Grey Knight Tourney list(Purge the Alien)

I'm playing in a 500pt escalation league and this match is going to be Purge the Alien.
The special rules for this league game are:
All vehicles can move 12" speed with no negatives
All cover is 5+
No flyers
No fortifications
My current list I'm thinking about doing is this:
TROOPS
5-man strike squad
-1 psycannon
-1 hammer
Dedicated transport
-Razorback(psybolt ammo)
170pts
5-man strike squad
-1 psycannon
-1 hammer
Dedicated transport
-Razorback(psybolt ammo)
170pts
Heavy Support
1 Dreadnought with 2 TL autocannon(psybolt ammo)
135pts
HQ
1 Inquisitor
*Just for the mandatory FOC requirement*
25pts
500pts total
So what are your thoughts on this list? Considering the game will be all about kill points, my strategy was to shoot from afar with my dreadnought and Razorbacks the first couple turns. When my opponent starts moving up mid field, my strike squads hop out and start gunning down with psycannons and storm bolters and hopefully hide behind area terrain.
I forgone the halberds in my squads because I'm assuming I can get into a good enough position where if there is going to be an assault, they'll assault into me through difficult terrain and hopefully go at I1. The hammer will be there to deal with any tough models coming my way.
I think the only thing I would have trouble dealing with would be a Land Raider. Another weakness would maybe be giving up first blood too easily if they can pop my Razorback first turn from afar.
Any recommendations about taking other lists are definitely welcome! I'm really new at using GK so any tips or strategies are all greatly appreciated.

Good solid list! But have you considered your opponent might bring a gunline and just blow up your army from afar? .....Tau *cough*
|
1500 - never get where I'm going
2500 - roll more than binary
1000 - never bring enough bodies |

Luckily, there are no Tau in my bracket, or in the entire League for that matter
I know for sure there's gonna be an Eldar player in my bracket. The other players in the League are SM, DA, DE, Necrons, 2 other GKs, and another Eldar player.
Is there anything I should be looking out for against any of these armies?

Centurions. Grav weapons tear vehicles, and heavy armor(3+ save or better) apart. Admittedly they only have a 24" range, and no invul, but they are tough enough to get in range and light you up. If you don't expect flyers, or a lot of vehicles, I'd trade the psyfleman dreadnaught for a group of henchmen. Plasma Servitors for 20 pts a pop, some psykers for the S10 blast.

Aha, that's me alright. Hopefully we'll have some time to playtest our lists this week at your place. Hopefully the psyfile dread can pull its weight against your Landraider . I feel like we're all gonna be gunning against Taylor's Eldar haha.

Yep we need a knock him out so he loses all his points from last round. but yeah. rifleman dreads will be good against his serpent.

Centurions for 500 will be hard to field with an HQ and 2 troops.
It can be done (i think) but that really mean there is little else.
Just stay out of range of them (you have better range anyway with the Dread and razorbacks) and kill them from afar.
To have them i think he need to only take 2 scout troops and an HQ which should not be too much of a bother

I play Orks, so my quality is quantity so I might not be right but I would suggest having more then 11 infantry and three vehicles in this list, I'd suggest maybe dropping the dread and get anther squad of dudes maybe

Solid list for 500 points. I'd like to see a battle report on that one. But, in my opinion, Grey Knights start at about 1500 points to be really playable. Before, you have too few figures.

Desubot got the line perfectly of what all the potential threats are; I won't have to be worrying about Centurions, luckily. The Eldar players are what I'm mostly concerned about. Of most of the armies, I'll probably be the most dedicated to long range with Razorbacks and a Dreadnought. Wave serpents are the true enemy here, imo.
I totally feel ya Kaptain Skullstompa. I've only ever played Tyranids before GK and it's definitely been a culture shock switching over. I learned the hard way in my Kill Team games at the beginning of the League that I can't play GK like I would my nids. In this case, I have to play to the GK strengths and really make every model count in terms of utility, rather than flood the board with more models for the sake of more bodies.

I think this list will do pretty well given my lineup. I don't think any army in the my brackets will be able to outrange at all and with proper positioning, I should be able to win every assault.
Speaking of when GK become really playable, when do you think is the proper points level I should start considering taking Terminators, Paladins, and Dreadknights? I can't wait to field those models just for the sheer cool-ness of them, but don't want to make it a liability to my lists if the points value are too small.

As said: I'd like to see how it does in battle, since I have no experience with such a small force, and my meta has things like IG and Tau...
Since I like Terminators beyond reason, I'd say put them into every list above 1000p. Paladins I would start at 1500 and Dreadknights probably at 1750. But, to be honest, I'm only starting out myself, so my opinion might clash a bit with the more experienced players. If you deem the models cool, field them (and paint them properly), screw the meta/competitive lists. I've been told that terminators aren't doing so well in the 6th, but I field them anyway (because they're pretty^^).
