Hello,

This is my first list for flames of war and my first game will be this weekend. Some of the guys at my local club are going to let me use some models. I want to run infentry and artillery but don't want to be bogged down by the slow moving, hence the idea of running a canadian lorried division from turning tides.

So without further ado here is the list:
Company HQ with jeep 30 pt.
3 lorried rifle platoons with transport sections 465 pt.
6 anti tank 6 pdr 160 pt.
2 hmg sections with piat team 135 pt.
2 hmg sections with piat team 135 pt.
2 8 gun field batteries of 25 pdr 520 pt.
Canadian armoured platoon of 3 shermans and a vc 290 pt.
4 M10C 17 pdr sp anti tank 270 pt.
2005 pt total

Is this a good start? Is this list balanced? Is there anything that I should add or remove? Anythoughts comments or questions?
My idea is that this gives me a little of everything to learn with from the infantry to the tanks.

That's a big force,is 2000+ points usual in your area?

It could probably use some recon and some AA, but apart from that it looks like a good list.

1 Platoon of universal carriers
1 Platoon of Wasps
2 platoons of shermans (3 shermans 1 firefly)
2 platoons of 2 Land matress launchers

As you have 16 artillery pieces on the table you will need some AA or they will just get flattened. Personally I would swap out one of the MG platoons for the best AA that you can afford (I don't know the Candian lists so I'm not sure what that would be, Bofors probably).

Aside from that you have most things covered and your list is solid. Recce would be useful but I find that infantry lists can get by without it.

Do not underestimate the Squats. They survived for millenia cut off from the Imperium and assailed on all sides. Their determination and resilience is an example to us all.

Its just a shame that they couldn't fight off Andy Chambers.

Flattened by what? The HMG can cover the arty fine, in fact putting them into carriers would make them more maneuverable while still maintaining their ROF. Plus if something gets close to the 25s just fire direct, 2 shots each at str9 will mess up most things except heavy tanks

Reaver I run something very similar and it has proven very effective.

As to the OP have you thought of Defrocked Priests rather than the soft sided transports?

They will be flattened by the things that AA exists to combat, aircraft. Good luck shooting down some IL-2s with MMGs.....

Aside from that 16 25 pounders have a massive footprint on the table, counter battery fire is going to hurt.

ok I got that...not a lot of air power where I play and by that I mean none so AA is not something I think about

Right about the foot print but you would hope to be able to smoke a threat with one troop and put the hurt on something with the other

So I decided to drop the 6 pdr for some anti air. I'm adding in 6 AA guns in the form of the Bofores. Also the reason why I went with the lorries instead of the defroked priests is because I like the look of the lorries my idea with the artillery is to keep it spread out (yea it will still hurt when it gets hit) and use it to take out big threats.

Artillery isn't great in FoW, British artillery is good but don't expect miracles, especially against heavy tanks. I would keep the 6 pounders personally and 3 Bofors should be sufficent.
