Having finally got my Dark Angels assembled and painted I joined a league at my local gaming store. Since I am no longer playing with just friends anymore that don't mind if I proxy a bit, I though it would be good to see if I am using too many proxies or they are too varying from the original model. When I go to play my game I'm going to bring two lists, one with no proxies and one with a few, in case my opponent isn't okay with me using some proxies.

Now for the proxies:
Dark Vengeance company commander as Azrael, I even have a Perfidious Relic of the Unforgiven following him around
Dark Vengeance Librarian as Ezekiel (not for most games, but if I could avoid having to buy another model for the off chance I use him it would be nice)
Command Squad Apothecary, his robes are painted white unlike the others that are a painted a dark brown, and to go on about the command squad, I need 4x combi plasmas for them, so they have no arms currently
Two missile launchers for my tac squads proxying as lascannons

And for the really outlandish one which I think not many people would stand for, a wonderfully painted Grey Knight Grandmaster subbing in for Belial

I need to wait until next Thursday for my paycheck, seeing as buying textbooks murdered my bank account, then I will be able to get a proper Belial model, my combi plasmas and apothecary bits, but I know I'm going to have to play a game before I get everything ready to go

Your Azrael and Ezkiel proxies are fine, as they are both kitted out WYSIWYG. If your apothecary stands out and you have some funky tools on one hand, no one will complain. Your real problem, temporarily, will be those missile launchers, but lascannons are easy enough to acquire, you should be fine. As for Belial, I used a modified Brother-Captain Stern for his base loadout.

I dont see to much problem playing against that, you have well defined wich one is wich, maybe paint the emblem of the doble helix to the aphtecary, no more problem, at least you arent using orks as space marines, or, like some dude owhere a play, empy bases, maybe the dudes without arms could cause some trouble, but beside that, nothing that a clear specificaction and a agreement before game could fix, i sometimes play my hole army of space wolves as vanilla marines, imperial fist succesors

As long as you are not running any Tac Squads with Missile Launchers, it doesn't look to be that bad.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I used the Dark Vengeance guys to proxy Azrael and Ezekiel too. I see no problem there, as their wargear is spot on.

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it.

And they would be the only tac marines with missile launcher.

Everything but the lascannons seems pretty kosher.

depends on who you are playing....what we say has nothing to do with it.

Ive played games where i used random Blood Angels from a friend to count as Lootas before i had a mess of my own lol.

at least the OP is dojng more than most who use proxies and come on here to whine about opponents complaining. He's making the effort to get the proper models. Too much proxying is the kid at our local gaming circle who, after three years, still won't get stormtroopers, but uses his Blood Angels as proxies. After a while. its time to get the correct models, like we all did.

Personally, I'd have no problem with those proxies. Just explain before hand.

See nothing wrong with your figure replacements. I don't use the normal belial figure at all. If you point out that the model is your warlord and is Belial no one will care The librarian as Ezekiel is also not biggie since he clearly and obviously looks like a librarian. The DV figure also works fine as Azrael. Again, as long as you say he is your warlord and is Azrael your opponent should be fine with that. If the Apothacary has white robes that should be fine too. Now where I have issues is with the missing arms on the command squad and needing to remember they are actually armed with combi-plasmas and also the tac squad proxies. The tac squads wouldn't be as bad for me as long as you don't have other tactical squads that actually use missile launchers, then it would get confusing as an opponent needs to track which squads are which for armament.

Exactly. If you use the unit often enough and it is still common in your lists 3 years later just spend the money and get it done. Only exception would be if he doesn't have the money to spend, but if he is buying other units and minis regularly he needs to commit and get it done.
