Realistic guns are a bad fit with an oversized blade. I prefer more realistic proportions overall, but mix and match is worse. Other than that, I like them a lot!

'Realistic guns'...?
The pistol is the size of his head.
I like them, although I'm not sure the heavily armoured torso with unarmoured legs makes much sense.

The blade will be shrunken up some when the final sculpt is done. That pistol is really a hybrid between a submachine gun and automatic pistol, so it is around a realistic size given those parameters. However the barrel caliber will be shrunk some so that it looks something that could be reasonably fired by one hand.
However I am still glad regardless of those things you two like them!
Thanks for the feed back so far everyone!.
with best regards - Shawn.

I think they're honestly great, weapon size and armour placement seems pretty cool to me.
They seem like ferocious, predatory creatures that use their strength and speed to their advantage in close combat by utilizing large slashing weapons over small arms? They're like something out of a 'District 9' or 'Elysium' style universe, drugged up Hyenas!
Either way I can imagine them grinning evily as they open fire with their machineguns!
I look forward to seeing more of your work come to fruition, these really stand out for me

Nice idea for a "Race" that is not usually represented in Sci-Fi.

Ok, fair point. "Not as unrealistic as usual guns don't go with normally unrealistic blade" is more accurate. : ) Still, I like the hyenas. Assuming they are genetically modified hyenas, you might add some homage to their earth origin on the plains of Africa. And perhaps scavenged items and totems and such.

Brother SRM- I do also agree the assault rifle will be sized quite much more to give a more sensible size and scale to them.
Scrub- They will have a feel heavy firepower, suppressing and breaking down enemy defenses before they rush in and finish off / capture anyone left holding those positions. So lots of support before the assault and during assaults to lend support were needed. They are quite smart these guys !. Thanks for the thoughts and ideas on how they engage in combat !.
AegisGrimm- That is exactly what I thought coming up with this faction, no one has really done sci fi Gnolls before!, and so I am doing them !. I do wish more companies created unique and more interesting ranges. Automatically Appended Next Post: kestral wrote:Ok, fair point. I am in the terms of making them a full scale own race, I do think their Empire will occupy all of Africa or, as in my setting most of the world has changed , what was once Africa and several other countries !.

Loved the concept when you first showed the idea, love it even more now. The amount of armor seems pretty consistent with the amounts their fantasy counterparts wear, so I don't see much of an issue with their unarmored legs.
I rather like the one with the saw/melta on the right.
Please tell me you plan on having their officers be female.

i like the concepts.
there is a game? or just make miniatures?
one question, maybe change the ''undefire'' because is already used by a stablished company of 20mm miniatures, and can make people be confused.

What kind of shoe would fit them
(I know you said "foot armor", but other than a shin plate, I'm not really sure what would make sense and not look silly)
They'd need uber versions of these:

Barzam - Glad to hear from you again Barzam !, I am glad you like them as well so far!, Hmm that would be an interesting idea indeed!, I will see what I can do, it will be defiantly hard to show unless I keep the bodies fairly humanoid, and I do plan to change up somewhat of their chest structure like I did with my Wul'vren. So well see what I can do !.
highlord Tamburlaine - As these are the more standard infantry it would make sense for them to not be so heavily invested into armor, and yet at the same time it is more likely that they would have heavier armor given front line troops are much more expected to face incoming artillery and much more likely to get hit by shrapnel and take most of enemy fire in combat. So I will think on their armoring some more and see if I think they need to have more armor on their legs and thighs.
vepaminiatures - Their is a whole background to the range I am creating, their will be a game in time, but it will not be of the high quality games we usually see, more a game that will make for myself and my community to enjoy and use. I have already talked with underfire miniatures and their is of no concern or worries their. We will be providing a link to the other on our websites to help with any confusion that may occur, something I may need to begin doing on the threads I post up as well at times .
thanks for the questions I am glad you like the concepts!.
Anpu-adom - I defiantly see many people using them in such a fashion !, would love to see a few images of a full force of them!.
SickSix - I agree, I still cant understand why no one has not done it before D:!.
Anpu-adom - the kits? sorry I just want to be sure I got the right idea of what your talking about here, you mean the separate heads style kits?
Fosner1703 - Like wise!.
grefven - I am glad your interested in this coming range!.
Lockark - The rifles are going to be bigger in the final product, and why if I may ask you find they wont be of use for you? everyone has their own tastes and that is fine with me .

I'd suggested having female officers due to the fact that actual Spotted Hyenas have matriarchical communities. Even the lowest ranked female of a clan is actually going to be dominant over the highest ranked male. If hyenas were to become Gnolls suddenly, I'd imagine their social systems would remain in place, so it makes sense that their leadership would be female.
There's a few ways to model a female. One obvious one would be the addition of breasts. Another would be the reproductive organs.... but, I don't think you're going to want to model that aspect of them. A third would be that female hyenas are much larger than the males. So, larger, more ornate, and with breasts would probably be the best way to model them.
Now, if we could just get some humanoid African Hunting dogs and some Dholes, we'd be set.

Absolutionis - yes their is some strangeness too that, but at the same time it can make sense, as animals feet are overall much better than human feet for dealing with all sorts of terrain types, it could be reasonable to assume that they would not need for the most part to make shoes and such due to no need for them. However at the same time, they could because it would be more conformable this also makes sense.
So we will see it counts how much detail is put into the feet, you could ( if their isn't fur their) paint them black and say their wearing something like what RiTides suggests. I don't think heavy armor padding on feet however for any race would be a very good idea. It would just be more weight to carry and usually that would be a highly unlikely place to get shot in a gun fight.
But a fair enough view regardless, I will take it into account .
RiTides - I will take that idea into consideration , though I myself never liked those things, I always liked to stick with my SWAT boots XD!.
Brazam- Hmm that is a good idea, I would probably do the multi breasts option, as I feel with their current chests they are just a tad too humanoid currently . That is also interesting to know I should have done more research into hyena pack systems and such ><!. I guess they will be having an Empress instead of an Emperor !.
I will remember those two other ideas for perhaps when I expand the line .
thanks again everyone for all the responses so far! I look forward to any more ideas and comments you all have!.
Again I would also like to add I am interested in hearing if any of you have someone or yourselves, who would be interested in setting up a small commission to help me finish setting up my current wordpress website? feel free to pm me on here, though it may take a few hours for me to see it, emailing me at underfirewargaming@hotmail.ca would be a quicker option if that is possible for you!.
Anyhow with best regards - Shawn.>

Ha! I knew you'd work the hunting dogs into the conversation at some point!
If these are more skirmish type guys, I would love to see what the front line guys (girls) in heavier armor would be like.

Hey, African Hunting Dogs are cool. They're one of the most successful predators in Africa with 80% kill ratio when they hunt. Lions only tend to get 30%. Not to mention that their preferred method of killing their prey is through disemboweling. Don't mess with them.
Check that badass out. Besides, trying to paint their coats would be a real test of someone's painting skills.
If you ever do Hunting Dogs, I'd say make them scouts or trackers. Those huge ears of theirs have to be good for something.
